A Perfect Half Day Coffee Tour Care with Daniel - We spent an unforgettable half day with Daniel at a coffee farm near Medellín. From the very beginning, everything exceeded our expectations. Our original plans changed at the last minute, and we reached out to Medellín Day Tours the day before, hoping they might be able to accommodate us. Not only did they rearrange everything seamlessly, but they delivered yet another five-star experience. We felt incredibly lucky to have chosen them over other recommended tours we had heard about from friends. This group is truly a gem and you will not be disappointed. Daniel arrived promptly at our hotel and expertly drove us out of Medellín toward the farm. During the ride, he gave us a thoughtful overview of what to expect, while also sharing interesting local insights like how certain roads close at times to allow residents to bike and walk more freely. He spoke perfect English, and his warmth and humor immediately put us at ease. He made every part of the journey engaging and meaningful. Once at the farm, Daniel led the experience from start to finish. He began with the history of the farm itself, then broadened the lens to explain coffee farming in Colombia and current trends shaping the industry today. His knowledge was extensive, yet he presented it in a way that felt accessible and fascinating. The experiential portion of the tour was a highlight. We trekked up to the plantation area where Daniel helped us identify coffee shrubs with ripe coffee cherries ready for picking. We tried and failed to fill our baskets, gaining a deeper appreciation for the physical labor behind every cup of coffee. Daniel even captured wonderful photos of us immersed in the experience. From there, he clearly and patiently walked us through the post-harvest process step by step from sorting, depulping, fermentation, and drying . He facilitated the tasting portion as well, guiding us through the fragrance and aroma profiles of the beans and helping us understand the nuances of specialty coffee. Throughout the entire tour, he answered every question thoughtfully and enthusiastically. The experience ended on a delicious note with refreshing drinks and unforgettable aborrajados, plus bananas to take with us. The hospitality at the farm was just as memorable as the coffee itself. We had the privilege of meeting the father who started the farm, along with his children, Edwin and Aleja, who now play key roles in operating this small-production specialty coffee farm. Their dedication to producing exceptional coffee while keeping up with current trends is truly admirable. Through Daniel’s expertise and genuine care, we were able to fully appreciate not only the craft of coffee but the people who make it possible. Daniel even went above and beyond by offering to loan us cash so we could purchase coffee beans. It is a small gesture that speaks volumes about his character and commitment to ensuring guests have the best experience possible. All in all, this was a true privilege. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn, experience, and connect in such an authentic way. It was more than a tour as it was a meaningful glimpse into the heart of Colombian coffee culture. If you’re considering a coffee tour near Medellín, don’t hesitate. Book it. You’ll be so glad you did. ☕🌿
