• Plaza La América - Next, we’ll explore a lively local Farmers Market. Here, there is an opportunity to immerse in the authentic Paisa culture, filled with a variety of natural products. From exotic fruits and beautiful flowers to charming minimarkets, coffee shops, and indigenous tribes’ healing herbs, it’s simply fascinating!

Sampling some of the exotic fruits is a must, further enhancing the sensory exploration. We’ll try gulupa, tomate de arbol, pitahaya, curuba, uchuvas, granadilla, and several more. Colombia is home to over 400 varieties of fruits!

• Estación Metrocable Juan XXIII - The next stop is a cable car journey, an emblem of progress and innovation in Medellín. This transportation system played a crucial role in positioning Medellín as the world’s most innovative city. It’s noteworthy that Medellín boasts the only Metro system in Colombia, recognized as one of the most efficient in Latin America!

We’ll embark on an engaging round trip aboard the cable car, ascending the mountains and soaring above Medellín’s vibrant “barrios.” This unique perspective offers a completely different vantage point, allowing us to appreciate the city’s diverse facets and marvel at how its residents adapt to various circumstances.

• Comuna 13 - Next, we’ll visit the captivating, multicultural, and vibrant Comuna 13—a true testament to transformation and resilience. Once controlled by drug dealers, guerrillas, and paramilitary groups, today it stands as Medellín’s shining jewel.

We’ll walk through the graffiti route to witness the remarkable fusion of art and history. The graffiti and murals throughout the neighborhood vividly depict its tumultuous past, remarkable present, and inspiring future.

Ascending to the mountain’s highest point is easy, thanks to the electric escalators—no worries for those who prefer an easier climb. Once at the top, we’ll be rewarded with an extraordinary and strategic view of the city, helping us understand why various armed groups sought control over Comuna 13.

• Plaza Botero - The next stop is the iconic “PLAZA BOTERO,” named after the renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero. Filled with Botero’s famous “fatties,” the plaza is known as a cultural and artistic hub, featuring a collection of 23 oversized bronze sculptures created by Botero himself, allowing visitors to interact with his legacy in an open and public space. The oversized dimensions of the sculptures are sure to bring a smile.

Originally designed to house governmental offices, El Palacio Nacional now serves as a cultural center and an incredible art gallery, showcasing exhibitions that highlight Colombia’s political, social, diversity, cultures, and artistic evolution.
