Visit to the Dockyard. - I for many years have been a fan of Call the Midwife and the history of the Dockyard. but haven't visited in years; I loved the tour with Heather the "midwife" who did the tour wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone. I was also really fascinated about the props that they used during filming including seeing baby Susan's story.

Great experience - This tour was a must see for Call the Midwife fans. The tour took place in the Chatham dockyards and was full of tidbits about the series as well as historical facts about the area. Our guide Helen, was friendly and knowledgeable about the characters, sets and background of the series. She was very personable and took extra time at the end of our tour to talk and answer questions about the series and gallery exhibit. I would go on the tour again to hear her presentation and stories. Very good tour and tour guide.

Great tour! - We were taken on our tour by midwife Heather. The tour was very informative and we learned lots about the secrets of filming the show. It made me want to watch it all again from series 1.
We also had the cream tea, which was delicious and took time to visit the dockyard too. My only disappointment was that if you buy a ticket for the tour, it doesn't include the standard 'pay once visit all year' ticket and there are no upgrades (I asked) because we want to go back and finish up the other interesting areas of the dockyard

Tour and cream tea gift - Visited Chatham historic dockyard to take part in the tour. The tour was taken by a ‘midwife’ Helen. The group was a comfortable small size. Our guide, who had been a nurse before retiring, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the show and its history. Tour lasted 90 minutes and we were shown many outside area used in filming. After the tour we had a lovely cream tea which was included in our tour price. Nice warm and large restaurant area, which a varied menu. All staff was friendly and welcoming, plus onsite free parking. This tour was a Gift from my two Grandsons and very much appreciated.

Helen the tour guide made this tour fantastic - Brilliant! Helen the tour guide made this experience! Her knowledge and enthusiasm held the group even the two young children were silent as she spoke of the episodes and related to where we were on the tour.

midwife calling - Fab tour was great to see the familiar places/Buildings we all know and recognise from the series our tour guide Helen was very informative and easy to talk too and was happy to answer any questions we had about the series and loved the building we went in with some of the prop, sets and costumes but the only thing I will say its there isn't as much of call the midwife stuff as we though but still enjoyed the experience but also is so much else to see like the dock and ship yard

Average at best - This tour requires a lot of ‘imagination’ you have to imagine the police sign being above a door and then it becomes the set, you have to imagine washing hanging across the big old buildings, I’ve done many tours coronation street, emmerdale and I would say this was definitely ‘average’ the tour guide was very informative and jolly but as the ‘set’ has to be put back to original when they leave, I think you can hardly call it a ‘call the midwife tour’ the gallery was good but that is the last 5 minutes!

A bit of a Lazy Tour - We were disappointed to be honest. The tour is confined to a small corner of the Chatham Historic Dockyard, looking at a small area around HMS Cavalier and various windows, doors, and streets. The guide herself was very good, she was humorous, patient and we could hear every word she said clearly. However, various locations were pointed out from a distance (eg the door to the doctor’s surgery, the stables (used as one of the streets in various episodes), the area around the church, used as a graveyard. We were told we could go and look at these afterwards if we wished but the tour would have benefitted from actually walking to a few more locations, as well as more (and clearer) photographs of the scenes being described. We were referred to various storylines from many years ago, which we no longer remembered, so photos are quite crucial. We know the Dockyard, as locals, and feel that the Church could have been included, for example, as it had been used more than once, as a church, as well as the entrance to the cinema but it didn’t get a mention. Maybe this is such a static tour for those with mobility issues.
The tour isn’t really worth the price on its own but our day was saved by the lovely, sunny weather, a nice cream tea in the café and a tour of the Ropery, which was excellent, plus the Lego exhibition. Thankfully the ticket price includes access to all areas of the Historic Dockyard.
