Meknes Desert Tour: 2 Private Days

The driver will pick up guests from their riad at 8:00 a.m. The journey from Meknes to Merzouga begins, traversing the Middle Atlas Mountains through the cedar forests of Ifrane (known as the Switzerland of Morocco), Azrou, and Midelt, crossing the Ziz Valley and its gorges towards the Sahara. Arrival in Merzouga is scheduled before sunset. Upon reaching the hotel at the base of the Erg-Chebbi Dunes, guests can relax with a mint tea. The guide and camels will be ready to take them across the sandy Dunes of Erg-Chebbi, where they can admire the sunset’s beauty. The night will be spent in a Berber tent at the desert camp. At the desert retreat, camels are tethered, and mint tea is served. After a delightful dinner, a campfire and drum music will entertain guests.

An early rise is planned to witness a stunning sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast, a shower, and a camel ride back to the hotel. The return journey to Meknes will pass through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a stop in the cedar forests of Azrou to hand-feed the monkeys. The trip continues via Ifrane, the ‘Switzerland of Morocco,’ aiming to reach Meknes by early evening.
