MCG Tour & Australian Sports Museum – A Must-Do in Melbourne - The MCG Tour was a true highlight—an unforgettable experience for any sports lover or history buff. Our guide, Ben, was absolutely fabulous. His knowledge, passion, and storytelling made the tour come alive. From the players’ rooms to the commentary boxes, every step felt iconic.
After the tour, I explored the Australian Sports Museum, and it far exceeded expectations. Interactive, inspiring, and full of Aussie sporting legends—highly recommend setting aside time for it.
A top-notch experience from start to finish.

Must do! - The MCG tour and Australian Sports Museum are a must-do for any sports fan. My son (13 yrs) is a big AFL fan and he was in awe of both experiences. He hoped beyond hope that we would be able to see the locker rooms and we did! I can’t recommend this experience enough. Fun for all ages and all sporting preferences.

Around the Grounds - Happily went on this tour at my husbands request and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The guide was an MGC Member and was passionate and knowledgeable on all things MGC and Melbourne generally. I took off one star only because our tour was the last before the stadium went into ‘game mode’ so we were hurried along a bit more than others might have been. Suggest booking a time away from game days if you want time to have a really good look around.

Interesting tour - Great to see different parts of the G, John our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I would time your trip around what sport interest you the most, as currently set up for AFL. Would wait until summer if you are into your cricket

Ok but nothing special. - Nice to see but a little underwhelming. I was expecting to see a historic old style stadium that had been refurbished. Don’t know why. The stadium is very modern. Like any other stadium I have been to which was disappointing.
We did the tour and museum together. The volunteers were everywhere and very helpful and freindly. Nothing bad to say there. However, on our tour our guide who was a nice man strayed off topic and onto his experiences and perks etc. this is ok to hear I suppose but I wanted to hear more about the cricket players and some stories about the legends etc. I also was expecting to stand on the ground which we didn’t. You get close but only onto the side track part. The tour goes for a while and if you’re in a large group you will be a bit rushed trying to keep up. The change rooms etc are all very sterile. Nothing historic about it. The record boards where players hundreds are recorded was something I wanted to see. It was there but was only mentioned when passing. More time was spent in some media room. Overall nice to do but nothing special.
The museum is dark and moody so if you have trouble with your reading be prepared. It again is very sterile and well organised but nothing special. When looking at displays there were no fact sheets of what you were looking at. There might be a cricket bat but nothing saying whose bat it was or any facts. There was the interactive part where you flash your wrist band to answer a question. That was hit and miss with what worked. There was also a very obvious loaded question where only one answer which was the same was expected. Bad form.
The interaction room was ok. Kids had fun except for the older bullies who dominated the activities and wouldn’t let other kids on.
All in all the visit was pleasant enough but nothing I would rave about or suggest it is a must do.
