Excellent day - We had a great time. We were unsure whether to visit because there were some poor reviews but we had walked so far and thought let's chance it. We had such a fabulous time. Spent about 2-3 hours lots of old style wooden games in the rooms. The set is really great with lots to explore. The views are fabulous 😍 Loved it. The actors were fantastic and really engaging..

Amazing day out - This is such a cool place for a day out. Make sure you are there for either 11am or 2pm as twice a day they let you take part in acting out some scenes, they film it and play it in their cinema on site and you can by the video for €5. It was the highlight of the day and trip for us. Beware the entrance into the set it down a steep hill and the exit the same way. I did see a van driving into the set with people who had mobility issues but not sure how that was booked. Definitely worth a visit and such a bargin price as well.

Lovely Day Out - Exactly as it says on the tin. The movie set from the Robin Williams Popeye movie. Loads of great photo opportunities, the characters were very friendly and happy to interact. Been over 20 years since our last visit and it still puts a smile on your face.

Popeye Village - A lot of fun. Very small so it gets crowded easily. Absolutely must do if you enjoyed the film! They've done a good job in keeping the set in good shape considering the set was built in 1979!!!

Quirky and unique! - A friend recommended this place to me, so we decided to spend a (rainy/gale force winds/stormy!) morning here. I’ve never seen the film, but it was super interesting to be on an actual film set, with lots of trivia and props about. It’s a quirky, quaint place and unlike anywhere I’ve been before. I think if you visited in summer, the place would feel more alive (parts were closed due to the weather and obviously watersports were a no-go). I do agree that parts of it are a little tired, the parade seemed a bit half-hearted and I think more info about what each building is would be useful. Still, if you so happen to be in the area, I think visiting the village is worth doing!

Wouldn't recommend a visit!! - Popeye world is for young kids ONLY. Very tired looking, characters are unrealistic and the set, which is now over 30 years old us very tired looking and needs a refresh and recamp . Wouldn't recommend a visit!

Disappointing given the reviews we read - Not what I expected from the other reviews. To be fair the weather (dry but gale force wind) didn’t help but that doesn’t affect the fact that the village is really quite small with not a huge amount to see. What there is could have been made more interesting with proper explanation via printed material, QR codes or whatever. If you get on a guided tour it probably all makes more sense but that shouldn’t be necessary. A lot of the areas up at the level of the car park were closed too. They would likely add a lot for kids when open. We stayed less than 2 hours and didn’t think it was time well spent. It feels to us that time is running out for this 45 year-old attraction based around the set of a not particularly good movie.
