- Taman Ayun Temple - Located in the Mengwi subdistrict of Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia, Taman Ayun Temple is a stunning compound of Balinese temples and gardens with water features. It was highlighted on the television show Around the World in 80 Gardens. This magnificent family temple of the Mengwi Empire is a popular destination for both local and international tourists. Situated about 18 km north of Denpasar, it is conveniently positioned along the main road between Denpasar and Singaraja. As one of the six royal temples in Bali, Taman Ayun holds significant spiritual and historical importance.
- Bedugul - Bedugul is a mountain lake resort located in the central-northern part of the island, near Lake Bratan, on the route between Denpasar and Singaraja. Found in Tabanan Regency, it is 48 kilometers (30 miles) north of Denpasar or 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Singaraja. The Bedugul area enjoys a mild mountain climate due to its elevation of approximately 1,500 meters (4,900 feet) above sea level. Key attractions in Bedugul include the Ulun Danu Temple (a water temple) and Lake Bratan.
- Bedugul Traditional Market - Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the Bedugul traditional local market, where they can purchase fresh fruits and seasonal produce such as strawberries, rambutans, pineapples, spices, red rice, and more.
- Tanah Lot Temple - In the Balinese language, Tanah Lot means “Land in the Sea.” Situated in Tabanan, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northwest of Denpasar, the temple is perched on a large offshore rock shaped by the ocean tide over the years. Tanah Lot is attributed to the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha. During his journey along the south coast, he admired the rock-island’s beauty and decided to rest there. Local fishermen, who saw him, offered gifts. Nirartha spent the night on the island and later advised the fishermen to construct a shrine on the rock, deeming it a sacred place to honor the Balinese sea gods. The temple’s primary deity is Dewa Baruna or Bhatara Segara, the Sea God or sea power, and Nirartha is also venerated here. Tanah Lot has been integral to Balinese mythology for centuries and is one of seven sea temples along the Balinese coast, each within sight of the next, forming a chain along the southwestern coast. Influenced by Hinduism, the temple is believed to be guarded by venomous sea snakes and a giant snake created from Nirartha’s selendang (a type of sash) when he established the island.
- Jatiluwih Rice Terraces - Located in Jatiluwih village in Penebel District, north of Tabanan, the rice terraces follow the contours of the terraced land against the backdrop of the enchanting Mount Batukaru and Mount Agung. They utilize the traditional Balinese irrigation system known as subak, a community-based water management system. Situated at an altitude of 700 meters, Jatiluwih is one of the five rice terraces that exemplify the “Subak” water management system, recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage.
