Relaxing and beautiful - I recommend this trip. The guide/ driver was very good and pleasant. It was a relaxing trip with beautiful scenery. The only down fall was the guide on the boat( different one) did not speak or understand English. We made do with an app but missed a good deal. This did not take away from the beauty. The meal provided was very good.

Great beach trip for an American couple. - Julio is an excellent guide. The boat trip to see the flamingos was beautiful. The beach is fun, but a bit crowded.

Mangrove paradise - The boat ride into the mangroves was spectacular, contorted root formations, red water and exotic birds… Flamingos seen from far away, and one small crocodile. Celestún beach has tricky currents and a sudden dip, beware!

Boat Ride to Celestun - We knew the ride would be long, but the boat ride was great. We actually saw a couple of crocodiles as well as a flock of pink flamingos. Dipped our toes in the cool Cenote. Our driver Carlos was great, good sense of humor and made the ride enjoyable. We also enjoyed meeting the other folks that were on the trip with us. Well worth the time and cost.

Beautiful and relaxed tour but too expensive. - Beautiful and relaxed tour and nice to get back to Mérida late in the afternoon and not late at night. It's not good value though - too expensive.

Great time but charged double the price! - The tour itself was amazing! We saw thousands of flamingos at the peak of the season. But I was disappointed to learn that I was charged double the price of every other fellow tour participant, and on top of that I was the only person in our group that didn’t have lunch included. Book directly through the tour agency if you can, or you’ll get ripped off apparently.

The driver was very nice... - The driver was very nice and polite and Celestun is beautiful indeed. These were the advantages. Now, the guide promised to pick me up at 7:40, so I had to wake up at 7:15 (and I am not a morning person) what time did they actually pick me up? 8:50! The person on Messenger was polite but kept telling me they’d come soon, which wasn’t true. After the boat tour they took us to a beachside restaurant which had notoriously tasteless food with a price tag of a nice place in Merida. The restaurant had toilets but they were flooded and wacky. Besides, there were around 4 broken sun beds (in our group there were 7 of us excluding the locals which were also there) and no umbrellas, so despite all the sunblock, I ended up with red skin. Near the beach there were some other local people sitting on the sand with bear cans and looking at us very strangely, so if I wasn’t very inclined to put on my swimsuit and get in the water to begin with, I was definitely not going to do that after seeing them. 3,5 hrs on that beach was definitely too much. If you can, hire a car and go to the place by yourself, there are boat tours you can hire for a fraction of the price, plus you have more flexibility. Don’t forget to take a jacket or a scarf because it’s quite windy on the boat.
