Culinary tour of Merida - Good tour. I liked seeing the roasting of the chochinita public. The guide also gave me a lot of information of places to go in the city.

Good shopping tour through the market, but not a good street food eating tour. - Luisa was very nice and knowledgeable. She took us to the Museo de la Gastronomia Yucateca which displayed the typical foods used to make traditional dishes. At the back of the Museo they had the under ground cooking pits in operation and we stood and tasted a small sample of the Pork. From there we walked to a market with a stop at a corner to purchase piedras & kibis. Again, we just stood on the busy corner while we tasted these things. We then proceeded to the market and Luisa toured us around the stalls to show us where we could buy the best fruits. We purchased fruit was we went tasting various new things. We never had an opportunity to sit and eat and were very hungry and thirsty and tired by the end. The last stop was at a drink stand where we purchased very large fruit drinks which filled us. It was a very different experience than any other street food tour that I've ever experienced throughout our travels. I did not like having to dig through my purse at each stop to try the fruit that was described, It would have been nice to stop and sit and have a prepared dish of something. We didn't even have an opportunity to have a street taco. Although Luisa was nice, it was just not an experience that I would recommend to anyone.
