This route is more picturesque than Naromoru and is located on the mountain’s drier side, providing some of the best hiking experiences. The climb ascends through the forest to a broad ridge leading to the summit area. It begins on the mountain’s northwest side, close to Nanyuki. Access is convenient, and the bunkhouse facilities are the finest on this side of the mountain. Although reaching the Mount Kenya summit is possible in 4 days following the itinerary below, an overnight acclimatization stay at the base in Nanyuki town is highly recommended.
