Mesquite - Beer Can Fence:
Starting on Cabin Canyon Road, turn onto Hen Springs Road. This road quickly narrows to a one-lane trail. As you ascend and navigate the mountainous terrain, you’ll be enveloped by the Virgin Mountains’ beauty, prompting many photo opportunities. Upon reaching Beer Can Fence, you’ll be amazed by the number of cans hanging on the fence. Legend has it that farmers began placing beer cans on the gate to locate the fence in the dark; however, visitors have continued the quirky tradition of adding more cans along the fence. This is an ideal stopping point as there is space to pull off the trail. This trail then connects to Bunkerville Choo Choo Trail. -
Bunkerville - Bunkerville Choo Choo:
The Bunkerville Choo Choo trail meanders along the Virgin Mountain foothills. As you traverse the washes and mountain ridges, keep an eye out for cattle, as this is open range land. Along the route, you’ll pass the remnants of the Key West Mine and the Great Eastern Mine. You’ll also journey through a narrow canyon known as the Seeps. Be sure to pause and admire Keyhole Rock, a natural arch in the granite rock. Finally, the trail’s namesake is a rail car that was transported into the hills to serve as a water tender for grazing cattle. -
