Marvellous market day - Thursday is market day in Alberobello so we were lucky to be able to examine taste and choose a variety of fresh produce that our delightful host Maria magically helped us turn into an authentic local feast in her charmingly trullo - even if our own pitiful attempts to emulate her orecchiette-making skills leave plenty of room for improvement!

It was like having your own Nonna for an afternoon. - This was such a unique and wonderful experience. You are invited into Maria's home which is an trulli built in the 14th century. The setting is amazing, but Maria is even better. She, and her young translator, took us to a small store (not a outdoor market) to select the cheeses we would use in the meal. We then went back to her home, where her husband was in the door greeting the tourist that come to take pictures of their stunning home. In her kitchen, she showed us how to make her amazing sauce, focaccia (traditional and onion) and panzerotti then taught us how to make orecchiette and tiramisu. We ended having an amazing meal. I think it is important to stress you are in someone's home. You meet her husband and neighbors stop by. It is a truly authentic experience. For an afternoon, you are part of her family and it is joyous.

No cooking class for us - The communication from the tour provider was woeful- unfortunate the directions that they provided were not acceptable to Google maps- we went to the old cooking school location, and the previous operator attempted to get us in contact with the new operator- this was a chapter of accidents. I received a phone call first from Slovenia, then Romania, and finally from Spain - the person on the other end obviously operating burner phones. They claimed to have sent an email on August 27 2025 advising correct address details but this has not yet been received. I have asked for a full refund of the tour cost however this looks very unlikely. They did eventually come back with an offer to attend another class at 1600 yesterday, or same time on Wednesday- neither of these were options that could work for us. We actually think the whole process smelled a bit so be cautious
