The Etna 3000 excursion offers an exhilarating opportunity to walk amidst breathtaking, surreal landscapes. The journey begins with a cable car ride from the Sapienza refuge (1960 meters) to the Etna cable car’s arrival station (2510 meters). From there, participants will embark on a trek to explore the Pian del Lago, a unique flat area of volcanic sand that resembles a lunar landscape. The tour continues with a climb up the crater from the 2001 eruption, providing stunning views of the nearby summit craters and the coastline. Upon reaching the lava fronts from the most recent eruptions (2018), visitors will arrive at a highly scenic spot overlooking the renowned Valle del Bove, a large depression formed by the collapse of an ancient volcanic structure. The tour’s maximum altitude varies between 2750 and 2950 meters.
