The journey begins on an easy trail that meanders along the lava flow’s edge, ascending through a beautiful beech forest. The trek will lead to the base of the craters, the site of the most significant eruption in recent decades on Etna’s northern side.
The path crosses the lava flow from these lateral craters, following a captivating route alongside the lava flow channel, a deep canyon sculpted by the massive magma flow that partially destroyed the ancient Pineta Ragabo.
Walking along the crater edges, participants will be able to enjoy breathtaking landscapes unique to Etna, showcasing how only the wildest aspects of nature can thrive in such an environment.
The trekking adventure on Etna’s craters will conclude with a return to Piano Provenzana.
