Great tour - Chiara was an excellent guide and even answered some questions I had days after the tour was over. The day was well paced, not too fast nor too slow, and the food tastings were spread out so that I didn't get too full.

High and Low: A Taste of Two Napolis—Delicious! - This is a fairly new tour for Culinary Backstreets in Naples and we highly recommend it. You start off in the Vomero neighborhood (easy to get there on the metro), a really charming, residential neighborhood with plenty of retail shops and merchants in a hilly part of Naples. Some of the streets were closed for pedestrian-only access, so it was lovely to walk through while we were sampling food. We did not eat breakfast, so come hungry, as you will be tasting lots of food over the next 4-5 hrs. We had leftovers wrapped up to take home from some of our stops. On top of the tastings, we took the funicular down to Montesanto, to continue our tour. Our transit tickets were included, and it was super fun to get the aerial view of the city as we descended. From coffee and traditional pastries, amazing cheeses, traditional sandwiches, Naples fried/stuffed pizza, Neapolitan pastas, fried seafood, artisanal coffee, gelato, everything was tasty and we were stuffed. Local artisanal purveyors and family-run businesses. Friendly folks who are proud of their food. We never would have discovered these places had we not done this tour. Francesca was a warm, wonderful guide. We felt like we had a friend showing us their town, pointing out highlights of some of the neighborhoods and a beautiful metro station while we walked. We went back to one of the shops that evening. The owner was so helpful suggesting a bottle of wine and letting us have a taste so we could pick out some salami. Then we enjoyed them with our leftovers for dinner. The next night we went to a restaurant in Vomero from their pocket guide called Buatta. It was an intimate spot on a quiet little street and the perfect way to end our time in Naples. And we just received a postcard from Culinary Backstreets today, (a photo of us from the tour)! What a thoughtful touch to remind us of our visit. Thank you to Francesca and the team for welcoming us to Naples.

Local inside food tour - Francesca is amazing! We were the only 2 joining and got a private tour therefore. She took all the time to guide us through the city, show the best places and food. I can highly recommend food tours from Culinary backstreet. Much higher quality than cheaper tours! This tour is great if you want to get the insides from 2 neighborhoods. If you want the traditional food, you might like the other tour. We liked the uniqueness from this tour, because we got an insight to local places.

Napoli! - Francesca, our guide, was fantastic. We enjoyed seeing the two sides of Napoli very much. All of the choices were fantastic and very tasty and very authentic. The fried fish, pasta genoves, pizza fritta, and of course the sfogliatelle were highlights.... but everything was great.

The perfect introduction to Naples! - I can not say enough about this excellent tour. Sonia was so knowledgeable and showed us secret places that we never would have found even with months of Googling. We had only a short visit in Naples and wanted to get a feeling for this ancient, vibrant city. Sonia was exactly the person to guide us. Seeing the difference between elegant Vomero, up on the hill above the fray, then the busy and dense Quartieri Spagnoli, was the perfect combo. I’m sure there are other tours possibly less expensive but having a smart, worldly native Neapolitan was truly precious. She knows her stuff and, once again hats off to Culinary Backstreets for knowing how to curate the best possible tours. And find the best tour leaders!!

Eating and walking your way through Naples - doesn't get much better than that - This was our second tour with Culinary Backstreets, and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Deborah, led us on a flavorful and colorful exploration of two very different feels of Naples. As a Neapolitan herself, she combined her food knowledge with her personal knowledge of and love for the city. Of course the food was wonderful - it's Naples, how can it not be? And it was plentiful. We even had to pass on one stop because we were getting too full. Fair warning - this one has a lot of walking, though you literally start high (on a hilltop) and end low (by the water front). Good for working off the calories and rebuilding your appetite for dinner.

All the food & drink you can take in Naples! - We had a wonderful tour with Sonia. We had a great group of people and Sonia made everyone feel at ease. She has a history background, which was a wonderful addition to the local food knowledge she shared. Loved every food stop and especially wandering around the Spanish Quarter. Thanks again for another great backstreets moment! We thoroughly recommend them for a unique perspective in your travels.

Great Intro to Naples - I did both the Culinary Backstreets food tours in Naples (a city that has an amazing diversity of fab food). This was my favorite of the two. Got to see the “high” (aka richer/newer) part of Naples—Vomero AND the older section (including the Spanish Quarter). Francesca, a true “napolitana” was a terrific guide who provided all sorts of insights and advice. You won’t be disappointed!
