Tacos and much more! - Carl was a wonderful guide around the Bella Vista neighborhood. Not only did we eat well, but he had so much info to share about local traditions and foods we were chatting and exploring the whole time. As we headed to our first stop we passed a local tortilla maker who knew Carl and handed us samples--an experience we repeated throughout our time together. Our first stop was a lovely family owned place where we had amazing mole and enchiladas. Grandma was busy cooking in the kitchen, but her grandson made sure we were happy. We continued on our tour to an indoor market to sample goat tacos and learn more about the complexity of moles. We had watermelon, flautas, chicharones and much more. What a perfect day! Carl and Milou were the best guides.

The best food tour in Mexico City - We felt very privileged to take this tour. Karl and Milou were excellent hosts. We learned about the history of many foods and the traditions. Chef Wilder has so much respect for the people, the culture and the food. A very memorable day.

The Best Food Tour in Mexico City - We know we took three others. None were bad; all were tasty, but none was so very Mexican. We felt very white while on this tour, as it is a Mexican neighbourhood. No one else does a food tour here because they do not have the tools to penetrate the culture. Milou and Karl were welcomed everywhere we went. I know the food varies by day, but I will mention my favourite bite while reminding you that you may not have it, but we tasted enchiladas Mole made by a Mexican Abeulo in the kitchen. Our favorite experience.

Incredible Experience - Chef Karl is such a good storyteller that it is no surprise that he moonlights writing detective novels. Ask him anything. He has travelled so widely that he even had restaurant suggestions for our next stop, Buenos Aires. There were only 4 people on our tour, so it felt very personal. Food is slow here. Relax and enjoy the day. When everything is handmade in front of your eyes, you can enjoy the show, the sounds and the smells. A delicious day.

Where? - That was the question from our hotel concierge when we asked him to map the route via the metro. It turned out to be 4 stops and a world away. We went from a neighbourhood where English was widely spoken to one where, if you can't speak Spanish, you need Chef Karl. The food was great, the stories interesting and the company delightful. Karl and Milou operate as a team and are warmly welcomed at every stop. If you want the real Mexico, take this tour; if you want the tourist experience, stay in Polanco or Roma Norte.

We will do it again ;) - We are big fans of Chef Karl and the Chef tours, so while traveling we decided to try the new CDMX tour. This was a learning experience. In addition to trying many excellent street foods, we learned the history and origin of the dishes. With The Chef Tours, everything is next level, and being joined by Milou made it so much more fun. When you taste a bite with a 3,000-year history, it really adds to the experience. What a wonderful evening experience, but I must tell you your night will be different. We were a group of 6 and booked a private tour. The night tour normally includes a lot of alcohol, but we do not drink, so he customised the tour for us to be all food. Culinary school, street food, a beautiful park and a guide who has great knowledge. The Chef Tours never disappoints. Milou made our night.
