Do it! - My wife and I had a fantastic time! Diego and Stef were such fun hosts and taught us a lot about Lucha Libre during our mezcal hour. Energy was high throughout the evening and we got to chat with so many interesting people. The Lucha Libre event itself was an absolute blast and such a fun way to experience a piece of local culture. This experience wasn't really on our radar going into our CDMX trip, but we met several people who recommended it, so we took the dive - and we're very glad we did.

For The Culture - I went to lucha libre expecting chaos, and I GOT CHAOS. But the kind that feels narratively meaningful, like a coming-of-age story where everyone is wearing masks and yelling. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was not just wrestling; it was mythology with body slams. A huge part of what made the night work were our two excellent guides, Daniel and Javier, who were charming, funny, and sharp-tongued in exactly the way you want someone to be when explaining a beloved cultural institution. They somehow turned the history of lucha libre into something that felt less like a lecture and more like gossip about very athletic demigods. Their knowledge added layers to every match, so each leap from the ropes felt like it came with footnotes and better jokes. As an American dropped into an overwhelmingly crowded arena where Spanish flew faster than the luchadores themselves, their guidance was genuinely invaluable. The arena was loud, packed, and thrilling in a way that could easily have tipped into stressful, especially with the language barrier. Daniel and Javier made it feel navigable, human, and fun. Like having translators not just for the language, but for the moment. Our seats were incredibly close to the ring, which meant you could feel the impact of every dramatic fall and every triumphant pose. The fights were absurd, athletic, theatrical, and deeply entertaining. It was impossible not to get swept up in the cheers, the boos, and the feeling that this was exactly where I was supposed to be that night. In short: lucha libre is wonderful, Mexico City is electric, and having great guides turns spectacle into story. I left hoarse, grinning, and convinced that masks sometimes tell the truest stories of all.

one of the greatest nights of my life - this truly was one of the best experiences. from start to finish, it was an incredible time. Julio and Diana were truly 12 out of 10 hosts and made the night so much fun. the tacos and beer at the beginning of the night were perfect to ease everyone into the excitement of the arena. both Julio and Diana’s passion of this beautiful and insane sport made the entire night. they explained everything, gave us the gossip regarding the culture behind the Luchadors, a brief history of Lucha Libre as a whole. the tacos were great, the Luchadors were incredible, the vibes were immaculate

A great experience to soak up some local culture! - A great experience, made all the more fun with our entertaining guides, Charlie and Barry! We started with all-you-can-eat tacos/limitless beer/mezcal/etc. We then headed to a Lucha Libre bar where we were educated on the art of the sport, with more beer/mezcal! We were treated to our own Lucha Libre masks before heading to the venue. Our guides made sure we arrived safely, and returned us to a safe pick up spot for our Ubers.
