San Angel is a typical neighborhood market in Mexico where most locals will go to buy their groceries. Margarita will introduce you to some of the local fruits and vegetables and then you will purchase some of the ingredients you will use together in your cooking class. After your tour, head to Margarita’s home on a typical residential street of Mexico City’s Tlacopac San \[Angel neighborhood. Enjoy a welcome drink and appetizers as you begin your cooking class, during which you will learn to make 2-3 traditional Mexican dishes. Learn to make tortillas from scratch, a traditional soup such as creamy chorizo-bean soup or tortilla soup, and a main dish such as chile rellenos or pork tenderloin in tamarind sauce. Then sit down together to enjoy your meal at Margarita’s dining table or, in warm summer months, outdoors in Margarita’s garden. End your meal with a traditional rice pudding or a spicy chocolate mousse and coffee or tea.

Great for a family - Margarita was a terrific hostess and very accommodating. She checked in with us on menu since we had young children with us to make sure everything would be good for the whole family. The market tour was good and she helped us with navigating purchase of some things for our place as well. She was also very patient as I tried to improve my Spanish with her. Highly recommend.

Best cook, best food, beautiful setting.. - I just had the best mole I have ever tasted, and I'm sure I can and will repeat this recipe at home. Our entire menu was fantastic, fun and not too complicated to replicate back home. There was so much food that we couldn't eat it all! Margarita is lovely, a fantastic cook and teacher, very patient. She has a beautiful home in an old neighborhood with narrow, cobblestone streets. Just visiting a home in this area is a treat. It was a beautiful day, and we ate outside on her patio. The market tour was fun, and even though we are familiar with Mexican markets and food ingredients, we learned more. Margarita was also helpful about suggesting things we might see and do in the area, so that we walked from her home through that beautiful neighborhood to our next adventure.

Exactly The Local Cooking Experience We Wanted - Our time with Margarita was somewhere between lovely and enchanting. My wife and I were hoping for an authentic, intimate cooking experience and we were bestowed exactly that with Margarita. Her home, neighborhood, local market as well as Margarita herself were all delightful and we would join her again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful morning and sharing your space, time and culinary knowledge with us Margarita, we loved it and it was all delicious!

Great trip to get an amazing experience and exposure to Mexican culture - We had a lovely experience with Margarita, I highly recommend this experience if you'd like to learn how to make easy authentic traditional Mexican food. Delicious food and wonderful hostess! - Such a great experience that I will recommend to all of my friends and family visiting Mexico City! Margarita was so lovely and accommodating and made sure the menu was approachable ingredient-wise and in terms of dietary restrictions. Delicious, informative, and fun cooking lesson - Our family had a wonderful time learning how to cook with Margarita. After a short and informative visit to a local market, she welcomed us into her kitchen and we got to work. Her lessons were detailed and hands-on. Everyone got a chance to do some of the prep: rolling and pressing sopes from masa; roasting, cleaning, and stuffing poblanos; and scooping out and filling guavas. Our lunch in her garden was delicious. And it was all the more enjoyable after a couple of hours of cooking and talking with Margarita, who is a great teacher, a hospitable host, and a wealth of information about Mexican food and culture.

Learn to prepare and enjoy a delicious Mexican meal, with a kind and patient host - Wonderful experience for our family, to help prepare and eat a traditional Mexican meal in a beautiful home in a historic area of CDMX. Margarita went out of her way to communicate and assist us with transportation issues due to neighborhood festival. Everything was so well organized, and thoughtful. We enjoyed learning new recipes and seeing a completely different side of the city. Very highly recommended.

Best Authentic Cooking Experience - Margarita was so kind to invite us into her beautiful home to cook authentic Mexican meals! The recipes were easy to follow and made with ingredients we will easily find at home. We learned about the history of Mexican cuisine and also saw Margarita’s impressive cookbook collection! She recommended a few that I have already purchased :) We hope to come back to Mexico City and do another class with Margarita!

Foodie Adventure! - My sister and I had a wonderful time shopping and cooking with Margarita. Her recipes were delicious and easy to follow, in fact, we have been making homemade tortillas ever since we left! ☺️
