THE guide to book for Soumaya - Diego is a fantastic guide to the Soumaya Museum, providing a strong narrative, with lots of interesting, unique details and a clear path. He is superb at answering questions with thoughtful depth, and also just a generally really nice guy. Highly recommend. You will be lost and only seeing topically in this museum without an expert guide like Diego to truly understand. A+

Mandatory visit - The architecture of the building is magnificent with a collection of amazing art and famous artists. The Gates of Hell by Rodin impressed me as well as the statue of David and the murals go unsaid. Most museums are closed on Mondays, Soumaya is open and admission is free. If you want to learn the art located in this museum I suggest you hire Diego as your guide, Diego has a robust knowledge of all the museum’s collections, I promise you will not be disappointed.

This was truly the best... - This was truly the best museum tour that I have ever paid for. Diego was super knowledgeable, and tailored my tour to what I wanted to see. While the entry to the museum is free, it is well worth paying for this tour. I even lucked out and got a solo 1-on-1 tour with Diego! You can spend hours upon hours in this world class gem of a museum. I recommend coming in with an idea of what you want to see, because you can easily spend more than a day here if you see every single item and exhibit.

A most excellent experience, with expert guidance by Diego. - Our guide, Diego, gave us a wonderfully curated tour of this museum. He started on the ground floor, with its monumental sculptures - in particular the AI-sculpted certified full-sized copy of Michelangelo's 'David', then took us on a tour from the 6th floor - Rodin and contemporaries - down through the French Impressionists to contemporary Mexican artists. At our request, we skipped the floor devoted to religious art and concentrated on more secular art. Finally, we returned to the ground floor and made one more pass through the monumental sculptures. At all times, Diego impressed us with the depth of his knowledge of the collection - it holds 12,000 pieces, only a fraction of which are on display at any one time. Apparently he goes there on his own time so as to be completely familiar with what is currently available for viewing.

Tour operator got another gig and cancelled on me the day of the experience. - I booked this tour then planned my day abroad around it and then the operator cancelled at the last minute. Very unprofessional. Do not list the experience unless you intend to follow through with it. Absurd.
