This is not a party boat nor just a paddle; it is an intimate kayak journey focused on Indigenous storytelling, ancient traditions, and the rich history of Xochimilco.
As participants navigate the canals, there are intentional stops to discuss how the ancient lake system was perceived by its original inhabitants. Through native sources, traditional sayings, and the region’s original language, the significance of the chinampas, the role of flowers and water, and how daily life evolved from this landscape are explored.
During the journey, participants will pass by active chinampas and local canal life, experiencing the serene side of Xochimilco while reconnecting with nature.
Kayaks are used instead of motorized boats to maintain a quiet and respectful experience in this delicate UNESCO wetland. Small groups provide opportunities for meaningful conversation, questions, and reflection.
The route spans approximately 5 km (3 miles) over a leisurely 3-hour period. It is beginner-friendly, with a safety briefing provided before departure.
