39P3+H8 Tlamacas - This thrilling hiking trail starts at “Paso de Cortés” in the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park, situated at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. In this remarkable forest, hikers will encounter pines, oaks, and oyameles, along with stunning mountain roses and the unique Teporingo rabbit.
As the trail ascends, hikers are treated to views of the majestic Pico de Orizaba (Mexico’s highest mountain), the mysterious Malinche, and the Sierra Negra. The landscape gradually changes from dense forests to alpine scrub, and finally to rocky and volcanic terrain.
Duration: 7 hours (hike)
Distance: 15 kilometers (with an option to extend to 18 km)
Views of Popocatépetl: During the ascent, the active volcano Popocatépetl can be seen, with its fumaroles and impressive presence.
Technical stops: Several breaks are taken to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the INCLUDED snacks, fruits, and energy drinks.
End of Altitude: 4000 meters above sea level (optional up to 4200).
Requirements: Sports clothing and footwear.
