The hike is more than... - The hike is more than worthwhile. The views excited my expectations. Carlos was a great guide - reliable and considerate. There were three other women on the tour, also solo travelers, and we all enjoyed the experience.

Great family hike! - My family of 4 booked a hike with Hiking Puebla during the month of December. My husband booked thru our Chase Credit card and was able to pay with accumulated points. Our guide was fantastic!! During our whatsApp conversation he answered all our questions regarding the hike (for example level of difficulty, what was included, what to expect, etc.), he asked what we had as far as clothing/gear and immediately offered to let us borrow hats, jackets and poles. Since we were traveling from the U.S. we did not have all the needed gear for the hike. The day of the hike, he showed up with water, fruit and lunch packed in plastic containers. He even modified the standard pesto pasta lunch when I told him we were gluten free. During the hike he was explaining the beautiful landscapes around the volcanos Popo and Itza. My 11 yr old connected immediately with him and for hours they talked in Spanish. Overall he was well prepared. At the end, he pulled out a trash bag for us to dump all the trash accumulated from the hike. It was such a great experience. We recommend Hiking Puebla 100%.

In the shadow of Popo lies the underestimated ''sleeping white woman''. - The views are absolutely stunning but the ''sleeping white woman'' is a beast. To ensure some pre-climb sleep and sharp focus on this mountain, try to set up camp away from the main building in the parking area, since all climbers are not on the same schedule and all it takes is one loudmouth to knock you off your beat. Plus the wcs are out of order. So make sure to bring your toilet paper in and out so as to not litter the place. This being said, summitting here is very rewarding, but it’s a privilege you will have to earn by digging deep. Hang in there. Breath. Enjoy your climb. Especially in the middle of the night, when the angry Popo sends some kind of seismic wave every 10 minutes or so with a distant Boom, you get to feel it through your body as if you were part of the mountain itself. Mesmerizing, to say the least.

Vale la Pena (well worth it) - Was great to get out of the city and experience the beautiful nearby mountains. Seeing the volcanos up close was a real treat. Mario and Carlos are excellent guides.

Excellent guide showing good humour and hiker safety - Wow, what a fantastic day! My trip with Hiking Puebla and my guide Carlos was excellent. He picked me up from my hotel at 6.30am and we drove 2 hours to the national park visitor centre. Carlos has a great love of the outdoors and nature, so there was always interesting conversation and good humour. I appreciated how Carlos took serious care for me - he gave a good safety briefing before we started hiking, regularly asked how I was feeling due to altitude, and made a sound decision to turn back when the weather got back on Iztaccihuatl. I strongly recommend Carlos for this experience.
