The artwork on Miami’s Brickell Ave bridge connects Downtown Miami to the Financial District of Brickell. This 53-foot tall bronze monument, located mid-span of the bridge, tells the story of the Tequesta Indians, Miami’s first inhabitants. The sculpture features 158 figures and is crowned by a 17-foot bronze sculpture of a Tequesta Indian warrior. Additionally, the bridge is decorated with four bronze bas-reliefs on the supporting piers honoring Miami’s early pioneers.
