The historic city of Mykonos (Chora) captivates with its stunning beauty and charm. Known locally as Chora, this traditional Cycladic village is nestled around a bay. Cars are restricted in the central area for most of the day, making a stroll through its winding streets especially delightful, particularly in the early morning. - Agios Ioannis Diakoftis - Situated on the southwest side of the island, Agios Ioannis is a coastal settlement located 5 km from Mykonos Town. This area was featured in scenes from the movie Shirley Valentine.
- Ákra Alogómandra - Experience a breathtaking coastal retreat where expansive sea views meet enchanting landscapes. Ideal for photographers, this location offers perfect spots to capture stunning views framed by tranquil waters and picturesque scenery. A true visual paradise.
- Choulakia - Choulakia Beach in Mykonos is renowned for its distinctive, smooth pebbles and crystal-clear waters. As a protected area, it provides a peaceful, untouched landscape, ideal for nature enthusiasts and offering spectacular sunset views.
- Armenistis Lighthouse - The Armenistis Lighthouse, standing since 1891, serves as a guardian over the area. This lighthouse, located in the Fanari area on the north-western part of the island, about 6.5 kilometers from Chora, honors Mykonos’ rich maritime history while remaining operational today. It overlooks the sparkling blue waters between Mykonos and the nearby island of Tinos.
- Agios Sostis Beach - Agios Sostis in Mykonos is one of the island’s most tranquil beaches, situated away from the bustling southern beaches. This untouched area lacks amenities, offering visitors a sense of complete freedom. En route to the beach, the beautiful church of Agios Sostis can be seen.
- Palaiokastro - The Monastery of Paleokastro in Mykonos is perched on a hill near Ano Mera, the island’s second village, in one of its lushest areas. This nunnery, dating back to the 18th century, features typical Cycladic architecture.
- Ano Mera - Ano Mera is the second largest village in Mykonos after Chora and is one of the island’s oldest settlements. It is a peaceful village where locals continue their daily lives without the interruption of tourist crowds, unlike the capital. Nearby is the monastery of Panagia Tourliani, which houses a remarkable collection of icons by a Cretan artist, as well as holy vessels and vestments. The courtyard features a beautiful bell tower and marble fountain worth visiting. Ano Mera also offers taverns in its main square, where traditional dishes can be enjoyed at reasonable prices. Cafes and pastry shops are also located around the square.
- Monastery of Panayia Tourliani - Established in 1542 by two priests, the Monastery is named after the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Its architecture is striking, with a whitewashed exterior and a colorful dome. A lovely marble fountain is situated in the church’s yard. Inside, there is an impressive wooden iconostasis (altar screen) crafted in 1775 by Florentine artists.
- Divounia Beach - Known to some locals as “Venus’s Breasts” due to their shape, Divounia was once a small fishing settlement, offering a glimpse into Mykonos’ fishing village past. Mornings here provide authentic fishing scenes rarely seen in Mykonos, offering a unique experience.
- Mykonos Secret Spot - This hidden gem, known only to Mykonos’ permanent residents, promises stunning photo opportunities. The view is sure to captivate.
