A truly educational and enlightening experience, with spectacular views! - Kudos to the tour company, “Discover Messina”. They did a fabulous job showing and explaining both the fortress of Milazzo and Greek/Roman ruins of Tindaris. Also included in the tour was the church of the Black Madonna. Our tour guide, “Chiara” set a pleasant walking pace and politely and professionally answered all our questions. Her in-depth knowledge of these sites and of ancient Mediterranean history was impressive. Furthermore, our beautiful Messina resident and historian, seamlessly integrated aspects of modern Sicilian cultural with past traditional ethos. This synergy of information brought antiquity to life and gave meaning to the artifacts we observed. Also, hat-tip to our friendly driver, “Antonio” (Tony) who safely delivered us via the narrow streets of Milazzo and Tindaris. I highly recommend this tour for its comprehensive scholastic value and breathtaking scenery.

Magic! Milazzo and Tindari without a car are difficult! - Milazzo: By car, you can easily get around Milazzo and Tindari aue. If you are a great sportsman and do not expect the little transport that is in Milazzo you must walk a little more than 12 km to reach Capo Milazzo. Don’t miss halfway to Castello di Milazzo entering for €5, although don’t expect many explanations or in texts it is worth visiting, it has the best views. If you walk to Capo Milazzo (like me) the reward is truly wonderful, a beautiful natural pool awaits you. Tindari instead has a wonderful beach that is very close to the train station, however to see the Madonna Nera you have to walk 17 km because it is on top. It is worth enjoying that beach!!! You must bring umbrellas, water and food because there are no people at the train station!!! I'm serious! Just a machine to buy tickets and nothing. It is worth visiting both places and if you have a car do not hesitate!!!!!
