Support a sustainable environment and giraffes - When we arrived in Arusha. We had a some time to do something. So we visited Arusha Giiraffe Centre. A local initiative to preserve land, nature, giraffes and at the humans by restoring back a sustainable environment. The first part of the tour is spent learning about the land, the impact of humans, importance of agriculture and the endangered Maasai giraffes. Then you explore the grounds where also the giraffes are from a close by distance. We took the opportunity to also have a nice local lunch within this great setting. Understanding that the fee including lunch is there to support this initiative. That by leading by example it can be an inspiration for others. We sincerely enjoyed the experience. Something recommended if you are interested and have a moment in Arusha.

Within 3 meters of giraffes - It is a 45-60 minute drive from Arusha. Then depending on exactly where the 4 giraffes are, it is 1-2 kilometers walk. Then you get to stand as close as 3 meters to the giraffes. Take all the pictures you want.

Great visit and experience - An amazing and informative visit. A great way to spend an afternoon. The founders of the center have done an amazing job on rehabilitating the land in their park to accommodate and care for giraffes. the staff are friendly and highly knowledgeable.

Amazing and ethical experience - An amazing experience at an ethical giraffe sanctuary. We were able to walk pretty close to them, without feeding or petting which affects their ability to release them back to the wild in the future. It’s not very touristy or overcrowded, uses money generated from tickets to educate the local children and farmers on giraffe protection and regenerative farming. We were greeted with a drink and tasty snack, and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would also recommend checking out the toilets XD

BEST DAYTRIP IN ARUSHA - The organisation is committed to the renaturation of the region, is increasingly reforesting the surrounding area and is training farmers and schoolchildren in ecology. During the walk with giraffes, we came within 3 metres of these wonderful animals several times. I would heartily recommend it to anyone!!!

Amazing walking tour with giraffes - I found out about the Arusha Giraffe Centre on Google. Upon arriving a lovely guide called Jerome explained in depth how giraffes are an endangered species. Hence why the centre was set up. The giraffes have been rescued from some of the game reserves and will be released back into the wild once they are ready. It was fantastic seeing giraffes so close and being able to spend some time with these majestic animals. You cannot feed or pet them. It is all about conservation and that is the priority. However you can walk very close to them. I was only a few feet away. If you have time the centre is well worth a visit.
