Elsen Tasarkhai - 1 Day - After picking guests up from their hotel, the journey westward to the Semi Gobi begins. Following approximately 4 hours of travel on a paved road, with breaks for coffee and restroom stops, guests will arrive in the Semi Gobi. A welcoming nomadic family, who are camel herders, will greet visitors and invite them into their home. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the nomadic lifestyle and culture in the Semi Gobi. A traditional Mongolian lunch, prepared by the lady of the nomad family, will be served. Post-lunch, it’s time for a camel ride. Guests will be guided to the sand dunes on their camels, with the option to lead their own camel if desired. This experience offers a wonderful introduction to the nomadic way of life, as the local family also tends to sheep, goats, and horses, in addition to their camels. After a delightful day with the family, the journey continues to Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Upon checking into the ger camp, dinner will be served. Following dinner, guests will be taken to a hilltop for a panoramic view of the small city of Karakorum, which also aids digestion after a hearty Mongolian meal. Overnight accommodation is provided in a traditional Mongolian yurt, known as a ger.
Karakorum & Khustai National Park
Kharkhorin - 2 Days - After breakfast, a brief city tour will be conducted before visiting the museums and monasteries in Karakorum. The 13th-century museum of the Mongol Empire and the Erdene Zuu Monastery are highlights of Karakorum city. Lunch will be served at the ger camp. Following a Mongolian meal, the journey continues to Khustai National Park. This park is home to the last remaining wild horses in the world, known as Przewalski’s horse. Additionally, the park is a sanctuary for various wild animals, including lynx, wild sheep, and deer. After a 1-2 hour drive, guests will arrive in Ulaanbaatar, where they will be dropped off at their designated hotel.
