Journey to The Elsen Tasarkhai Semi-Desert
Elsen Tasarkhai - Today, the tour guide and driver will collect guests from their hotel and transport them to the Elsen Tasarkhai semi-desert and the Khugnu Khan Natural Reserve. This distinctive area is encircled by sand dunes, with rolling hills adorned with rare shrubs, and a small forest along a river, offering a unique blend of mountains, forests, and Gobi-style landscapes in one location.
Upon arrival, the group will explore the area, visit the tranquil Uvgun Temple, and experience the lifestyle of a nomadic family inside a traditional Mongolian ger. Enjoy camel riding, stroll along the sand dunes, and unwind in the serene beauty of this peaceful natural setting—an unforgettable introduction to Mongolia’s countryside.
Journey to 13th Century Capital Kharkhorin & Ugii Lake
Kharkhorin - After a hearty breakfast at the tourist camp, the group will travel to Kharkhorum, the 13th-century capital of the Mongol Empire. In 1220, Genghis Khan declared Kharkhorum the center of his vast empire. Today, visitors can explore fascinating remnants of this once-great city, including ancient ruins, Buddhist stupas, and the renowned stone turtle sculptures.
Upon arrival, the group will visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, established in 1586. The journey continues to the Kharkhorum Museum, where deeper insights into the history, archaeology, and cultural heritage of the Mongol Empire can be gained.
Ugii Lake - The group will then travel approximately 70 km to Ugii Lake, a picturesque freshwater lake located in the open Mongolian steppe, covering about 25 square kilometers. Ugii Lake is renowned for its rich biodiversity, with researchers recording 14 fish species, 27 aquatic plant species, and 48 aquatic animal species.
The lake also serves as a crucial stopover for more than 150 species of migratory water birds, making it an ideal location for nature walks, photography, and birdwatching before continuing the journey.
Journey to Hustai National Park
Hustai National Park - The group will travel to Hustai National Park, situated in the foothills of the northern Khentii Mountain Range. The park is celebrated for the successful reintroduction of the wild horse known as Takhi, internationally recognized as the Przewalski’s horse.
Once extinct in the wild for nearly 40 years, these remarkable horses now roam freely in their natural habitat thanks to conservation efforts. Today, the population in Hustai National Park has grown to more than 450 Takhi, making it one of the best places in the world to observe truly wild horses living independently in nature.
Journey to Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex & Terelj NP
Genghis Khan Statue Complex - On the final day of the tour, after a hearty breakfast at the tourist camp, the group will travel approximately 160 km to the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex. Built in 2008 to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Mongol Empire, the complex honors its legendary founder, Chinggis Khan. The impressive stainless-steel statue stands 40 meters (131 feet) high, weighs 250 tons, and is the tallest equestrian statue in the world. The complex also features a museum and souvenir shops, offering insights into Mongolian history and culture.
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park - After exploring the statue complex, the group will enjoy lunch before continuing to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, one of Mongolia’s most scenic destinations, famous for its dramatic granite cliffs, forested mountains, open valleys, and flowing rivers.
Upon arrival, the group will visit the Aryabal Meditation Temple, where panoramic views of the national park can be enjoyed from the hilltop. The day concludes with a one-hour horseback riding experience through the beautiful Terelj Valley.
Afterward, the group will travel approximately 60 km back to Ulaanbaatar, arriving at the hotel between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. This marks the end of the tour. Thank you very much for traveling with us—we hope you leave Mongolia with unforgettable memories.
