Wonderful walk at the Vikos Gorge - We had a wonderful hike with Alexis who was able to explain us a lot on the nature, culture, history, … of the area.

Would definitely use Alpine Zone again - We spent a wonderful 5 days based in Ioannina doing trips with Alpine Zone and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our guide Alexis (who, despite appearances, wasn’t Stanley Tucci) was incredible - knowledgable, friendly and great fun and he and his team, including the driver, did everything they could to make our trip a really enjoyable adventure. The Vikos gorge hike was breathtakingly beautiful with really stunning scenery. This is a really special landscape and not what imagined a Greek hiking holiday would look like. At all times Alexis & co were helpful and flexible ensuring that we were doing the best activities in terms of the weather / our level of tiredness etc. each day.
We also did a white water rafting tour with Alpine Zone. The guides were brilliant - very capable and friendly and they inspired total confidence and a feeling of safety which was great as most of us were beginners. The rafting was one of the highlights of our trip - really great fun thanks to the amazing staff and I would highly recommend it for anyone, even those who may be nervous around water. With these guys you feel in really safe hands.

Gorge (ous) views - I really had no idea what to expect, this part of Greece was unknown to me. Alexis our main guide accompanied by Vassilios led our vast group so expertly and enthusiastically. Each view /vista surpassed the previous. Would highly recommend.

Memory for life! - We chose to go up from Sivota the day before and stay one night at Vikos View, (very nice hotel), to avoid travelling time on the hiking day. The hike took about 7.5 hours including rest and lunch stop. At times quite tough hiking with climbing and slippery stones. Nothing for the afraid of heights but a fantastic nature and a superb guide in Alexis from the Alpine Zone.
As a completely inexperienced hiker with an untrained body it was quite a tough last climb up to Vikos but the bath before in 4-degree meltwater gave an extra push and I made my way up! One of the coolest experiences I've ever had!

A hike you don't want to miss! - Extending the charter holiday in Sivota by two days in the Pandus Mountains was a very smart move – the holiday became a much bigger experience! We chose to stay in a hotel in Vikos, the night towards the hiking day. Hiking the trail took us about 7.5 hours including stop for lunch and with 1 km to go, swimming in the icy turquoise spring of meltwater- don't miss it! At times tough hiking with many height meters at the beginning and end, at times more walking. For me as a reasonably trained 50+ woman, difficulty level 5-6 out of 10. The views of the gorge-mountains and all the green vegetation- take your breath away! That we chose to have a guide made the hike educational, safe and enhanced the experience, we can really recommend the knowledgeable and sympathetic guide Alexis on Alpine zone!

An amazing hike through Vikos Gorge! - I went on a solo trip to hike the vikos gorge. I had initially wanted to go in a group but there weren’t any going on the day that I had planned. This meant that the cost was higher for me but I loved it so much. I didn’t have a car and do really appreciated being picked up and dropped off at the hotel I was staying at which was included in the price. My guide was Alexis and he was high vibe- he had so much knowledge to share about the gorge, rock formations and plants - well worth it compared to going by myself and bypassing all of these things! He allowed me to lead so that I could lead the pace and I really enjoyed the local spinach pie. I also loved going down to the river source towards the end of the hike. Thank you for such a memorable trip that I will stay with me for a lifetime. This gorge is so beautiful- absolutely stunning! Rathika

Special walk through the Vikos Gorge. - We walked the vikos gorge with Dimitris the guide. It felt good and familiar with him. It was a super nice experience, lots of green beautiful mountains. The route is 90% in the shade so fine to do on a sunny day.

Memorable!!! - We were fortunate to be accompanied by Dimitris, a professional guide who, in addition to ensuring perfect security, was unfailingly kind, considerate and supportive. Without Alpine Zone, we would not have tried this trail, and we would not have finished it without Dimitris.
We recommend without reservation.

Great trip with our guide Alexis! - If you enjoy hiking, you will love hiking through the Vikos Gorge. My friend and I spent a day with our guide Alexis, and he was wonderful. Since it was just the two of us, we were able to go at a nice leisurely pace and enjoy the hike. Alexis was a great guide and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. He brought us great food for the trip (local spinach and cheese pies and sesame bars), and also took us to the Voidomatis Springs. The springs are perfectly clear blue water at the bottom of the gorge and were definitely a highlight of the hike. Hiking through the gorge with Alexis was definitely a highlight of our two-week trip in Greece - cannot recommend this activity (and Alexis) enough!

Vikos Ravens Greece. Nice hike from Monodendri town to Vikos town or a little longer if you want to go all the way to Mikro Papigo. - The trip took us 8 hours with breaks. Then we started walking in the river lane a few kilometers before continuing on the marked path. Distance according to GPS was 16 km with 111 m descent total and 111 m ascension. Last climb up to the city of Vikos we thought we were getting hot, but we came up and a beer at the tavern tasted very good.
We had nice weather and the whole trip can be recommended. Great terrain and amazing mountain formations. We have walked Samariravinen on Crete before, but this one was probably more demanding we thought. Remember to bring enough food and drink! Right after the skil where you choose Vikos town or Mikro Papigo town as the target is the water area where many bathed (obs relatively cold water, but beautiful area)
Absolutely a nice trip!
