- Monolithos - The journey starts in the charming village of Monolithos, situated on the untouched western side of Rhodes. The path ascends through lush slopes adorned with pine and cypress trees, offering stunning views over the Bay of Apollakia.
The trail gradually becomes more challenging as you traverse rocky areas, providing amazing photo opportunities at every corner. After the most demanding part of the climb, there is a stop at the quaint historic chapel of Agios Ioannis (St John) to savor a traditional Greek snack.
From this point, the trail continues upward toward the peak. A brief rocky scramble marks the final approach, and upon reaching the summit, the views are truly breathtaking. From the top of Akramitis, there are 360-degree panoramic views of both sides of Rhodes, the lake of Apollakia, inland villages, Mount Attaviros, nearby islands such as Halki, Alimia, and Tilos, and on clear days, even Karpathos and the Turkish coastline.
The descent takes a different path, guiding you through a shaded forest of towering pine trees. Thanks to the dense tree cover and the refreshing mountain breeze, this hike is enjoyable even on warmer days.
