The hike starts in the traditional village of Monolithos, situated on the untouched western side of Rhodes. It ascends through lush slopes shaded by pine and cypress trees, offering stunning views over the Bay of Apollakia.
The trail gradually becomes more challenging as you navigate rocky sections, providing amazing photo opportunities at every turn. After the most demanding part of the climb, there is a stop at the small historic chapel of Agios Ioannis (St John) to enjoy a traditional Greek snack.
From this point, the trail continues upward toward the summit. A short rocky scramble marks the final approach, and once at the top, the views are truly breathtaking. From the summit of Akramitis, enjoy 360-degree panoramic views over both sides of Rhodes, the lake of Apollakia, inland villages, Mount Attaviros, nearby islands such as Halki, Alimia, and Tilos, and on clear days, even Karpathos and the Turkish coastline.
The descent takes a different route, leading through a shaded forest of tall pine trees. Thanks to the dense tree cover and breeze, this hike is enjoyable even on warmer days.
