Greenwood Great House - Constructed in the early 18th century, the Greenwood Great House is a plantation home situated at a high elevation, typical of Jamaican Great Houses. This strategic positioning was used during the plantation era for overseeing the plantation and ensuring security. Unlike the Rose Hall Great House, Greenwood offers a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Rose Hall Great House - The Rose Hall Great House, an early 18th-century plantation home, is located on a high elevation across thousands of acres in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. It was once owned by Annie Palmer, one of Jamaica’s most notorious plantation owners, who owned hundreds of slaves. Following her tragic death in 1831, the house became haunted. Even during the day, it presents a chilling sight. Although there is no stop at the Rose Hall Great House on the way to Negril, your tour guide will share its history and slow down for photo opportunities.

Rocklands Bird Sanctuary (Montego Bay) - Established in 1952 by Lisa Salmon, known as the “Bird Lady,” the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary opened to visitors in 1958. Various bird species visit daily, eager to interact with guests. Visitors can extend a finger for birds to perch on while they enjoy nectar from a handheld bottle or watch finches eat from their palm. Species such as the Jamaican Oriole, the Doctor Bird (Jamaica’s national bird), White-Winged Dove, Finches, Red-Crowned Woodpecker, and more can be seen. These wild birds visit the sanctuary daily to feed and engage with visitors. After about an hour with the birds, the bird keeper will guide you on a short walk through the woods, highlighting local trees and plants. You might even spot a Barn Owl resting among the branches! This tour is a dream for nature enthusiasts.

Driving on the left, your driver will navigate through the bustling Barnett Street, the longest street in Montego Bay, to downtown. The first 15-minute stop is at Sam Sharpe Square, where statues commemorate slaves who were harshly punished in 1832 for the Christmas Day rebellion of 1831. Feel free to explore the museum at the Montego Bay Civic Centre.

St James Parish Church - Built in 1775, the St. James Parish Church was praised by renowned English artist James Hakewill as “the handsomest church on the island” due to its stunning Georgian architecture. Inside, you’ll find numerous memorial tablets and monuments, including a marble baptismal font from 1848, a large mahogany organ made in Liverpool, England in 1780, and a brass lectern shaped like an eagle with outstretched wings. The church’s interior also features beautiful murals by English sculptors from the 18th and 19th centuries, most notably John Bacon. Visitors are encouraged to read the marble plaques and headstones, which display exquisite poems and well-wishes in old English. A standout feature is a three-light Palladian window framed in carved mahogany, with the center light depicting the crucifixion and the sidelights representing the resurrection and ascension of Christ.
