- Rose Hall Great House - The Rose Hall Great House is an early 18th-century plantation residence situated on a high elevation amidst thousands of acres in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. This historic house was once owned by the infamous Annie Palmer, known as one of Jamaica’s most notorious plantation owners, who possessed hundreds of slaves. Following her tragic death in 1831, the house became haunted. Even during the day, it presents a chilling sight. Although there is no stop at the Rose Hall Great House on the way to Negril, the tour guide will share its history and slow down for photo opportunities.
- Greenwood Great House - Constructed in the early 18th century, the Greenwood Great House is another plantation home built at a high elevation, a common strategy during the plantation era for overseeing the land and ensuring security. Unlike the haunted Rose Hall Great House, Greenwood offers a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Its history and architecture are truly captivating. As you pass by, feel free to take photos when the tour guide slows down.
- Discovery Bay - Discovery Bay is home to Columbus Park and was originally named Puerto Seco “Dry Harbour” by Christopher Columbus in 1494 when he and his crew landed on the island. They initially struggled to find fresh water but eventually discovered a source about 5 miles west, naming it Rio Bueno “Good River”. In 1947, Puerto Seco was renamed Discovery Bay, marking the spot where Columbus and the Spanish first landed on May 4, 1494. The park, currently closed for renovations, displays several old relics and artifacts. There will be a brief stop to capture the rich history of this historic town through photos.
- Runaway Bay - This tour takes you through Runaway Bay, one of the island’s most popular and scenic towns. Nestled between a stunning coastline and lush green mountains, its name is debated. Some believe it was named after the last Spanish soldiers who fled from British troops led by Governor Ysassi after the 1655 British invasion, while others think it was an escape route for slaves heading to Cuba. Be ready with your cameras as you explore this picturesque area.
- Dunn’s River Falls and Park - Experience the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls, where you can climb the falls in a human chain led by experienced guides. Dunn’s River Falls Park offers a perfect setting for family fun and relaxation, with delightful discoveries at every turn. The friendly guide will lead you to the beach where the tour begins. The climb from the beach to the top is approximately 600ft (183 meters), with pools along the way for photo opportunities and enjoyment. Let the cascades embrace you as you ascend. Pause at the ‘massage parlour’ to feel the soothing effects of the water cascading to the sea. Exit points are available if you wish to stop, and you can rejoin your group at the finish. For those less adventurous, enjoy watching from the terrace or deck. The total experience lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Main Street - Shopping in Ocho Rios during this day trip will be at the Ocho Rios Craft Market or a similar location. A wide variety of items are available, including rums, coffee, T-shirts, hats, jewelry, wood carvings, and art. It’s advisable to carry small bills, as not all places accept credit cards, and vendors may not have change in USD, resulting in receiving Jamaican dollars as change.
- Scotchies Drax Hall - Scotchies Outdoor Garden Restaurant is renowned for offering the best jerk chicken and pork. It’s highly recommended to conclude your day’s activities with a visit to Scotchies for an ultimate jerk experience. The food is prepared with the whole family in mind, ensuring even children can enjoy the tender, juicy pork and succulent chicken with festival. Steamed vegetables are available for non-meat eaters. Don’t miss the chance to try the homemade Scotchies specialty hot sauce made from locally grown Scotch Bonnet Pepper.
- Ocho Rios - Known as the heartbeat of St. Ann’s garden parish, Ocho Rios is a paradise for nature lovers. Once thought to be watered by eight rivers, Ocho Rios offers a lush landscape of caves, gardens, rivers, and white sand beaches. The name Ocho Rios actually comes from “Las Choreras,” meaning “waterfalls,” reflecting the area’s many waterfalls. From Fern Gully, located in an old riverbed, to the tiered waterfalls of Dunn’s River, Blue Hole, and Secret Falls, Ocho Rios is home to some of Jamaica’s most popular attractions. This picturesque resort area draws thousands of visitors, offering a romantic and scenic escape.
Ocho Rios is a charming “Colonial Styled Town” with a population of about 25,000. Known as “The Centerpiece of Jamaica,” it offers a range of activities from golf to watersports, equestrian pursuits, and soft adventure activities. Conveniently located between Kingston and Montego Bay, it provides excellent access from both international airports. As the birthplace of Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey, Ocho Rios offers rich cultural experiences, including Marley’s mausoleum at Nine Miles, Reggae Xplosion, and Seville Heritage Park, all chronicling Jamaica’s history through story and song.
There will be a short stop in the town center (approximately 1 hour) for shopping.
