Best tour in Monteverde - It was a joy to do this tour with Roy. He is so knowledgeable from birds to other fauna to plants, and is infectiously excited by wildlife. We spent three and a half hours in the Curi Cancha reserve and it was the highlight of our trip thanks to Roy.

Must-do tour in Monteverde! - This was an awesome tour! And Roy was excellent! I know there are two Roys so I forget which one led my group, but he was unbelievable. Knew so much and had such a great eye for finding wildlife. We saw so many birds, mammals, butterflies, etc. and Roy was able to teach us about every living thing in a way that was interesting & engaging. Highly recommend.

Great Bird Watching in Monteverde Area - We had a GREAT time at Curi-cancha! Even though we were not at peak bird-watching season in early June, we saw a lot of birds. Even before our tour started, we saw a lot of birds from the parking lot! Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. He took extra effort to show us plants we were interested in and helped us with photos. Would recommend doing a morning tour to see as many birds as possible before the clouds roll in. Was one of our best tours in Costa Rico and would highly recommend!

Roy was incredible! One... - Roy was incredible! One of the first things he asked me was what birds I wanted to see. He was passionate about the landscape and was very knowledgeable about all the different types of birds, insects and animals on the area. I was lucky to be able to get great videos and pictures of a bell bird and multiple other types of wildlife. Overall great tour, I would definitely recommend!

Excellent guide. - Roy was fantastic!! Curi Cancha is a must don’t you like birds, especially hummingbirds. Yes, you can do this reserve on your own, but then you miss a lot. Roy knew exactly where the Toucan nest was, and it did not disappoint. He is so knowledgeable and very friendly. You will be happy with this tour.

Very knowledgeable! - Roy was a very knowledgeable and fairly priced tour guide, we did 2 different tours with him. He was able to find lots of birds and wildlife we would have no idea how to spot or would have missed - we were on the fence if we needed a guide, but I 1000% recommend going with a guide otherwise it’s impossible to spot the birds to the untrained eye and they have powerful binoculars. He is very patient in helping us take photos, too. He is a good steward of the parks we visited, and I saw him help some of the other newer guides as well help spot birds.

An Unforgettable Tour with the Best Guide in Costa Rica! - My partner and I signed-up for a number of guided nature tours over the course of our ten-day trip to Costa Rica, and Roy was absolutely the #1 best guide out of all them!! He was so welcoming, and joyful, and knowledgeable about the environment and the birds. We saw all sorts of birds (toucan, toucanet, a variety of hummingbirds, and so much more), wildlife (agouti and coati), and Roy told many stories about how the fauna connected back to the flora that surrounded us. We cannot recommend him enough, you will not be disappointed!!

Curi Cancha is worth the trip! - Our guide Roy was very knowledgeable and helped to identify lots of wildlife, birds (toucans!) , snakes, sloths, insects and flowers/ trees. He really did a nice job. Curi Cancha is definitely worth a trip as it has a different feel than other reservies. If I had more time I would have hung around and walked the gardens and paths more.

Nice Place - Careful with the Fine Print - Curi-Cancha entrance process was not fully described. Every participant must have a government issued ID. Additionally, when booking a bird watching tour through Trip Advisor, the operators consider that to be an external 3rd party and not a part of Curi-Cancha. As such, their is an charge of $25 per adult. Just be sure you understand the totality of the costs. The facility was well maintained, marked well, with beautiful flora and fauna. We actually saw more birds from the parking lot than in the reserve itself. Walkways were flat, wide, and well maintained. We did see a spectacular Quetzal male during out walk. Our guide was well informed and know where there would be opportunity to see certain species. And, the guides exchange information to enable the various groups to see a wide variety of birds and other animals. An nice walk to start your day!
