- Morioka Castle Ruins - A key attraction in the city is Morioka Castle Ruins Park, the former site of Morioka Castle. The castle was dismantled in 1874, but the area was revitalized in 1906 and renamed Iwate Park. It is a favored spot for recreation among locals and is especially popular during cherry blossom season.
- Hoonji Temple - Hōon-ji is a Sōtō Zen Buddhist temple situated in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. While its main image is a statue of Shaka Nyōrai, the temple is more widely known for its collection of 500 Rakan statues.
- Morioka Handi-Works Square - This venue offers the opportunity to “see, touch, and create” various traditional crafts and foods of Morioka. It features two main sections: the Workshop Area and the Exhibition Area. The Workshop Area hosts 14 workshops where visitors can purchase items, observe skilled craftsmen, and participate in crafting original products. Beginners can try making Nambu sembei rice crackers, similar to Belgian waffles, or flavoring plain dango with syrup. The dango shop offers unique varieties like cream dango and okaka (dried bonito flakes) dango. In the Exhibition Area, over 3,500 local specialties are available for purchase, and there is a replica of a Nambu magariya house, a traditional L-shaped structure combining a stable and a house.
