Day trip to Ait Ben Haddou - We booked the day trip from Marrakech to visit Ait Ben Haddou. Mohamed Zinbi was an excellent driver especially through the winding roads of the Atlas Mountains. He was very informative of the itinerary and spoke French and English very well. Unfortunately we were unable to go into the Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou due to filming however Mohamed took us to an alternate place and was very accommodating.

very good! - Our guide sadOK and driver were both wonderful. They introduced us to the local culture and took us to visit Ait Ben Haddou and Atlas Studio. It was an amazing trip that was well worth the price. Highly recommended!

Great trip to Ouarzazate, Atlas Studio, Ait Ben Haddou - Great organization, great guide with Fatima and driver Jusuf. Very pleasant, very safe, all greatly organized from the first minute. We left 7.05 from Cafe de France and arrived back around 8.30. Great value for the money. We booked another trip with the same agency to Casablanca.

Beautiful day between the atlas and the casbahs - A day full of images in the eyes and beautiful memories in perspective...if you add to this day the professionalism of Bouja our driver and the kindness and availability of Medhi who in addition to speaking all languages, folds in 4 for you, then you get a very nice and very good day

Good sites but prepare for an extreme long day - Itinerary was good, cant blame them for the distance but if you want to do Ait Ben Haddou, you gotta sit through the long day of driving almost 8-9hours. The total time from pick up to drop off was about 13hours and we were the last on and first off the van.
Did not particularly like the lunch setting. Says its optional but we were all taken to a restaurant to eat on one large table so we didnt feel like there was much of an option for food that wasn’t great

Nice day trip with avoidable tourist traps - The scenery is very beautiful for desert lovers and also the snow mountains are very nice. Some might complaint about the driver, but he is not the blame the road is just extremely windy though good quality, and the driver is always focused on road, never felt sudden brakes, just wear seat belts and you will be fine.
On the ait benhaddou, it can be done solo without the guide, felt the extra 20 dh cost per person on the local guide was forced upon. Though its a small amount and I dont mind paying to support villagers who depends on tourists I considered it as a entry fee mentally. Now inside ait benhaddou, it was city full of souvenir shops so you wont get feel like fes or marrakech or tanger. But again i understand unlike other imperial cities its a purely tourist parts as actual villagers live on the other side of the river. So worth if you want the game of thrones photo.
The unmentioned argan oil stop was not that long. And anyways needed a toilet break so did not mind and was not pressured to buy.
The thing i felt bad was the guide could have made stops in more affordable places. In the breakfast place one sandwich costed around 70 dh if i remember correctly (standard price in marrakech is 15-30 dh). But it still fine as the restaurant had very nice view on top of the mountain, I will just suggest pack food and have just tea there.
But the biggest scam i felt was the lunch restaurant. We were forced to go to a restaurant where we were attempted to pressure sell a set menu lunch for 130 dh each. In that price in morocco anywhere you will get a luxury buffet and there it was just a dish, salad and desert. We just ordered a pizza worth 100 dh (fair price should be 40-50 dh) and shared among ourselves. So i will suggest before entering the lunch place just check in google if you are entering in the tourist trap one. If so just say no and go to a nearby place as per google. I could not think though it and stayed almost hungry. I know these things happens in touristy locations and guides need to earn commisions, why not maintain a tradeoff ?
pickups and drops were well co-ordinated. I really wanted to give tips to the driver but I felt cheated on the restaurants so they can probably consider the commisions their tips.
The studio was a bit underwhelming and overpriced. So do the entire trip only if you really want to go there. Ticket price is 80 dh each and there also the guide does not explain much and one studio guide comes and he also guilt trips to give tips even before the trip starts claiming they are freelancers. Come on, who works for free ?
It might seem that I am a cheap person and not give tips, but in the previous day I did another trip from viator for atlas mountains where each of us tipped 20dh to the guide and also had similar set lunch for 70 dh each in a mountain village.
So my suggestion to the trip agency is the trip can be 5 stars if you make these things well.

Opportunity Missed... - Well worth it for Atlas scenery and Ait Ben Haddou but itinerary differs from description. You don't get as much time as you need or any free time at Ait Ben Haddou and time is wasted on other things not really worth seeing. First we stopped at Argon oil cooperative (not on itinerary), then Ait Ben Haddou (which was supposed to be the last stop). Only got a guided hour here for an hour (itinerary said 3 hours) with no free time or time to explore. You then get taken to lunch in a local restaurant for an hour which would have been better as free time (we opted out and went back to see the views). You then go to Atlas studios which is a waste of time which would be better spent in Ouazazarte or more time at Ait Ben Haddou. The itinerary says you go to Ouazazarte first for lunch and a city tour but you don't. Crazy to get within 15 mins and not go here and waste time at the studios instead. They also tell you the stuidio tour is 'optional' so we opted out and asked what the alternative was to be told there wasn't one. The guide told us we could just wait outside or go with the driver to a local cafe. The trip would be so much better if it just went to Ouazazarte to see the town and Kasbah, then head to Ait Ben Haddou and give you more time. Great for the two highlights of Atlas mountains and Ait Ben Haddou but not good for lack of time there and other sights.

Could have been a fantastic day but was ruined by dangerous driving. - We did the day trip from Marakesh to Ouarzazate, to visit the Atlas Studios. It wasn't the best start as the driver was late by 45 minutes, due to an issue with a wheel on the van, but I understand these things happen. The van was swapped and we continued. Traveling at this time of year, it is colder than in summer, so wrap up well as the heating in the van didn't seem to reach into the back where the majority of the passengers were. I assumed the driver was 'making haste' due to the earlier delay, however once he got into the mountains, I felt his continued excessive speed and corner cutting was dangerous and I wasn't the only one holding onto both handles of the seat in front. It was a relief, when we stopped off at various stages of the fairly long drive, to actually get off the bus and the visit to an Argan Oil processing shop was very interesting, however the 'dangerous driving' continued all the way to the Atlas Studios. This visit, again was very good and engaging (entry not included in the price). They then took us (at a more normal pace) to a restaurant which served typical Moroccan food (again not included in the price), which was delicious, and after than, again at a steady pace, to the Unesco site, Ait Benhaddou, where we had a guide show us round the site (at an extra minimal cost between all of us, but worth it). Unfortunately on the return we experienced even worse driving, including tailgating other vehicles with very limited stopping space. We were all convinced an accident was about to happen. Overall the trip was value for money, the sites visited where amazing and the guides and information were good, but the day was truly spoilt by the unnecessary dangerous driving.
