• Helgadalur - Upon entering Helgadalsvegur, continue driving for approximately 2 minutes until you notice the sign on your left (Vindholl), marking the beginning of a trail. This sign is included in the hike’s photo collection. Your guide will be there to greet you and ensure you stop upon arrival!
• Grimmannsfell - Prepare for an unforgettable journey as we set off on an exhilarating hike to Grímmannsfell, a hidden treasure that offers both challenge and reward. This wild, often unmarked trail is ideal for true adventurers, providing a raw and pristine experience of Iceland’s stunning landscapes. Along the route, we’ll navigate a diverse terrain of lush fields, soft bogs, and rugged ditches that require agility and a spirit of exploration. As we climb, a steep and thrilling slope awaits, pushing us to new heights—both physically and mentally (400m / 1315 ft elevation). The reward? • Gljufrasteinn - Laxness Museum - The adventure continues! After our hike, we’ll step into the world of Halldór Laxness, Iceland’s only Nobel Prize-winning author. His former home, now a museum, offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and creative mind of one of Iceland’s most celebrated literary figures. As you explore the house and stroll through the beautiful garden where Laxness found inspiration, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the country’s rich literary heritage and its deep connection to the dramatic landscapes surrounding us.
