Moshi to Rongai Gate to Simba Campsite
Mount Kilimanjaro - Elevation: 1,387/915 m to 1,950 m to 2,750 m
Distance: 7km.
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest
Enjoy an early breakfast before being transferred by our vehicles through various villages and coffee plantations on a 2-3-hour drive to Rongai Gate (1,950 m/6,398 ft). After signing in and preparing the porters, begin hiking on a wide path through fields of maize and potatoes, entering the montane forest. The climb is gentle but steady through the beautiful forest, home to diverse wildlife. The forest thins as you reach Simba Camp (2,600 m/8,530ft), offering stunning views over the Kenyan plains.
Simba Campsite to Kikelewa Campsite
Mount Kilimanjaro - Elevation: 2,750 m to 3,600 m
Distance: 18km.
Hiking Time: 8-9 hours
Habitat: Moorland
After an early breakfast, enjoy a steady ascent to the second cave for lunch. Depart from the main trail and traverse the moorland on a smaller path towards Mawenzi side peak, reaching Kikelewa Camp in a sheltered valley. Settle in for dinner and an overnight rest at Kikelewa Camp.
Kikelewa Campsite to Mawenzi Turn Hut Campsite
Mount Kilimanjaro - Elevation: 3,600m to 4,330m
Distance: 3km.
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Semi-Desert
After breakfast, tackle a short, steep climb up grassy slopes, rewarded with breathtaking views of the vast wilderness. Soon, leave the vegetation behind and arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled in a spectacular cirque beneath the towering Mawenzi Peak spires. Continue to Mawenzi Turn Hut Camp, where you can see the remarkable undried lake with no inlet or outlet. Enjoy lunch, rest, then dinner and overnight at this camp.
Acclimatization Day - Mawenzi Turn Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro - Spend an extra day on the mountain, with two nights at Mawenzi Tarn. Hike towards Mawenzi for a wonderful acclimatization experience, then return to the camp for lunch, dinner, and overnight stay.
Mawenzi Turn Hut Campsite to Kibo Huts Campsite
Mount Kilimanjaro - Elevation: 4,330m to 4,695m
Distance: 8km.
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
After an early breakfast, cross the lunar desert of the saddle between Kibo Peak and Mawenzi Peak to Kibo Huts at the base of Kibo’s crater wall. Spend the rest of the day resting and preparing for the summit climb.

Mount Kilimanjaro - • Elevation: 4,695 m to 5,895m to 3,690m
• Distance: 4km up, 14km down.
• Hiking Time: 10-15 hours
• Habitat: Alpine Desert
Wake at midnight for a light breakfast and prepare for the summit ascent. Aim to reach Uhuru Peak shortly before or after sunrise. Depart for the peak at 12:00 AM, switchback up steep scree or snow, reaching Gilman’s Point on the crater rim at 5,861 m/18,640 ft between 4 and 6 AM. Enjoy views of the crater and icecaps. After 2 hours of hiking along the Kibo crater rim near the famous snows, reach Kilimanjaro’s true summit, Uhuru Peak. Spend some time taking photos, depending on how you feel. After summit activities, descend back to Kibo Huts, have lunch, rest, collect equipment, and continue down, re-crossing the saddle to Horombo Huts. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Horombo Camp.
Horombo Huts Campsite to Marangu Gate to Moshi
Climbing Marangu Route - • Elevation: 3,690 m to 1,830m to 1,387m
• Distance: 18km.
• Hiking Time: 5-6 hours
After a restful sleep, wake for breakfast, pack up, and begin the descent through the moorland to Mandara Huts. Have lunch, then continue the triumphant journey down through lush forest to Marangu Park Gate. Sign out, and a vehicle will take you back to the hotel, where it’s time for certificate presentation and celebration!
