Arrival and Preparation

The moment I stepped off the plane at Kilimanjaro International Airport, I felt a familiar thrill of anticipation. This was not my first time in Africa, but it was my first attempt at conquering the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. The Lemosho Route, known for its scenic beauty and diverse wildlife, was calling my name. As a wildlife photographer, the promise of pristine landscapes and unique animal encounters was irresistible.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming staff of Altezza Travel. They whisked me away to a cozy hotel nestled in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Reaching New Heights

As we ascended higher, the landscape transformed dramatically. From the heath of the Shira Plateau to the stark beauty of the Arctic desert near the summit, each zone offered its own unique challenges and rewards. The acclimatization hikes were crucial, and I took them seriously, knowing that altitude sickness could derail our adventure.

The summit night was a test of endurance and willpower. My fiancé and I both felt the effects of the altitude, but our guides, Kibacha, Joseph B, Juma, and Adrian, were our pillars of strength. Their encouragement and expertise kept our spirits high, and as the first light of dawn broke, we reached Uhuru Peak. Standing at the top of Africa, with the world spread out below us, was a moment of pure euphoria. It was a reminder of why I fell in love with this continent and its wild, untamed beauty.

The descent was swift, and as we made our way back to civilization, I reflected on the journey.
