Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - In the early morning (midnight to 2 am), the ascent to the summit begins between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. The route heads northwest, ascending through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically demanding part of the trek. At Stella Point, a short rest is taken, and the most magnificent sunrise is witnessed. Faster hikers may see the sunrise from the summit.
From Stella Point, snow may be encountered all the way on the 1-hour ascent to the summit. Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent is achieved!
The descent begins from the summit, continuing straight down to Mweka Camp, with a stop at Barafu for lunch. Gaiters and trekking poles are recommended for the loose gravel on the descent. The day concludes at Mweka Camp, enjoying the last evening on the mountain.
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Hotel
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, the descent continues to Mweka Park Gate to receive summit certificates. At lower elevations, conditions may be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles are helpful. Shorts and t-shirts are likely sufficient (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).
A Monkey Adventures vehicle will be waiting at Mweka gate to transport you back to your hotel in Moshi (approximately 60 minutes).

The route is one of the few where groups may be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger, as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are inhabited by buffalo, elephant and other wildlife.
8 days Lemosho has one of the highest success rates. The additional days give your body more time to acclimatize, reducing the effects of altitude sickness and give you more time to rest before attempting the summit.
