Machame Gate To Machame Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, guests depart by vehicle to Kilimanjaro. At the gate, the crew completes packing and, after formalities, the journey begins from Machame gate. Today’s hike is through lush afro montane forest to Machame camp, with a picnic lunch along the way. Keep an eye out for beautiful endemic flora and a variety of forest zones.
Machame Camp To Shira Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - From Machame camp, the hike continues to Shira Camp. The initial section is quite steep, and altitude is gained quickly. A picnic lunch is enjoyed on the trail today. The path leads through the heath zone, where stunning wildflowers and lobelia plants are visible. Various geological features, such as lava tubes and glacial valleys, can be observed today.
Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Kilimanjaro National Park - Today is a “walk high, sleep low” day. The ascent leads into alpine desert, and for those feeling strong, there’s an option to head up to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco camp. Lunch is a picnic on the route. This is a long day, but the next time this altitude is reached is in two days, making it an excellent acclimatization day.
Barranco Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - From Barranco camp, known for its giant groundsels, the ascent continues up the Barranco wall and through glacial valleys to Karanga camp. Today involves a relatively short hike, with lunch at Karanga camp. In the afternoon, a walk with guides offers stunning views of the Southern walls of Kibo and deep glacial valleys.
Barranco Camp To Barafu Camp
Mount Kilimanjaro - Today involves another half-day ascent to Barafu camp. Lunch is served at camp, allowing ample time to relax before the summit attempt. The camp is set in a desolate alpine desert, where strong winds often blow, yet the evening offers spectacular views of Mawenzi peak. Dinner is served early before resting for the night.
Barafu Camp Kilimanjaro Summit To Mweka
Mount Kilimanjaro - Most climbers depart just before midnight for the final summit attempt. Patience and persistence are key to reaching the summit, and by dawn, as the first light appears, most climbers arrive near the rim. Ascending via Stella Point provides a relatively short final stretch to Uhuru peak, the Roof of Africa! After reaching the summit, the goal is to descend to Mweka camp.
Mweka To Moshi
Moshi - After breakfast, the descent continues through montane forest. Around midday, after bidding farewell to the crew, guests are picked up and transferred back to their hotel for leisure.
