Situated in the rain shadow of Kilimanjaro, the Rongai route is an excellent choice for climbing Kilimanjaro during the rainy season, as it experiences significantly less rainfall compared to the southern routes.
Beginning at the Rongai gate, this route passes through a variety of climate zones, each offering its own stunning views and unique experiences. During the initial stages of the trek, Kilimanjaro towers dramatically above, and at higher elevations, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking vistas, culminating in the panoramic 360-degree view from the summit of Uhuru Peak.
The descent follows the more frequently traveled Marangu route, providing trekkers the opportunity to view Mount Kilimanjaro from both perspectives and to enjoy nearly everything this remarkable and beautiful region has to offer.
