Central Malta is rich in history and tradition. Its medieval cities, ancient temples, and breathtaking landscapes reveal the secrets of the island’s vibrant past and customs. On this adults-only small group tour, participants will explore Mosta Basilica, St. Paul’s Catacombs, and the fortified town of Mdina, known as ‘the silent city’ for its tranquil streets and old-world charm.
The tour begins with Mosta Basilica, renowned for having the third-largest unsupported dome in Europe. Following this, the group will visit St. Paul’s Catacombs, an underground network of cemeteries dating back to the 3rd century BC. These burial sites are the earliest evidence of Christianity in Malta. Visitors should look for the two carved circular stone tables, believed to have been used for funerary rites or celebrations honoring the deceased.
After the visit, the group will enjoy a typical lunch at a nearby restaurant, featuring dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, before concluding the day with a guided tour of the fortified Mdina.
