A must-do experience in Barbados - Learning the rum distillery process start to finish was a really fun and engaging way to spend a morning on the island. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the tasters, and our tour guide who I think was called Akil (apologies if have spelled this wrong!) was incredibly knowledgable and engaging through the whole tour. There was no question left unanswered. We are so glad we did this tour over the one around the visitor centre, as this one really gave full insight into the history of the distillery - it felt like stepping back into time. Would definitely recommend, even to those who aren’t avid rum drinkers, as the history and insight is well worth the visit alone 😊

Caring response by staff to medical event - In this review I would like to praise the excellence of the staff. I went with my wife, and about three quarters of an hour into the tour, as we went into the fermentation rooms, I fainted clean away, and was out for two or three minutes. The reaction of the tour guide and others couldn't have been better. Firstly, he moved like lightning to catch me as I fell down, and stopped me hitting my head on the floor. When I came round, I was helped to a comfortable place to sit down, and a member of staff was left with me to look after me. Another tour guide then offered to arrange for me to join her tour group for an early bus back to our home - which we didn't need as my wife could drive us back. Finally, they immediately offered to refund our admission payments for the tour, and those went through right away.
i really felt looked after by the Mount Gay staff, and I definitely plan to go back and complete the tour next time I'm in Barbados.

Mount Gay distillery tour - The mount gay distillery tour in St Lucy at 2 hrs was a perfect way to spend the morning
The tour started with a welcome drink and then an amazing tour about the history and processes involved in making Mount Gay rum. The guide was charismatic funny and informative and having not been a rum drinker previously the tasting at the end has made me reconsider. This is a fantastic xmas special occasion drink, an everyday choice drink as well as a beautiful mixer for lighter and refreshing occasions
I had never considered rum a quality product but I am a convert- highly recommend this fun and informative trip.

Amazing tour and tasting - My husband and I recently visited the Mount Gay Rum Distillery in St. Lucy, Barbados. We did the “Premium Rum Flight Experience” with transportation included. It was just us and one other couple. When we arrived, we were served a delicious rum punch. Then, we donned our hard hats (It is a functional distillery!) and were given a tour by the fabulous, Romal. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a great way about him as well as a great sense of humor. We got to see and learn about everything, from the water well to the molasses to different stills to the huge storage rooms for the barrels of rum. It was very interesting and informative. Then, we returned to the main building and got to taste 8 different rums with Romal (again… fantastic and so knowledgeable!!). It was so great to be able to learn about the taste notes and scents that are unique to each rum. We highly recommend this tour!

Mount Gay Distillery tour - exceeded expectations! - An amazing tour ! Super informative into the brand, their activities, the rum making process and the history of the brand and rum in general on the island. Highly recommend. The rum tasting was also great and we walked away with some lovely rums!

Interesting Beautiful and Insightful - Our tour guide was perfect, friendly, funny, and highly knowledgeable. The views were beautiful. The content was interesting and very well delivered. The rum was delicious. Amazing experience all around!

Must do while visiting Barbados - Our tour guide Romal was absolutely incredible. He was engaging, knowledgeable and very funny, which made the tour a blast. His passion for Mt. Gay and ability to explain all the processes, equipment and most of all the history made for an incredibly informative tour. He is an incredible ambassador for the distillery tour and a great brand ambassador for Mt. Gay as a whole. I highly recommend this tour to everyone because it is SO COOL. It also provides unique insight into some of the history of Barbados and the role Mt. Gay has played in it.

A history of Rum? Yes please!! - We rec'd booking the tour through the Mount Gay website and plan in advance as they do fill up. We toured on Mon. 3/27/23. We added transportation and the driver was prompt and excellent. Since the factory is in St. Lucy, the ride up is a good tour of the island! We booked the Premium Rum Flight Experience which included a tour and then tasting of 8 different rums. Very fun! Our tour guide was awesome, very entertaining but what I loved the most is that he really cared about everyone in our group getting the most out of the experience. My husband is hearing impaired and he always made sure he could hear and understand the tour and during the tasting he placed him near the front so he could always hear. Not something you find in most tours. Much appreciated. This is a great rum history tour and Mount Gay does a great job!!

A Fun and Flavorful Rum Tour - This was a fun and excellent tour with substantial content. Our superior guide was lively and knowledgeable.It was well worth the price. Eat a hearty meal before you tour.

Very poor customer service. - Booked the 10:30 am tour and when I arrived I was told it was canceled last minute . They said I could wait for the 12:00 pm tour. At 11:55 am the tour guide called the security guard and told us about 12 persons) that because of the weather (rained earlier but it was sunny at the time of the call) and unforeseen circumstances the tour was canceled. They would refund the price of the ticket ($58) but no transportation. The distillery is 45 minutes away from the hotels and a round trip is about $200. To say customer service was very poor is an understatement.
