The experience includes a geothermal walk lasting between one and one and a half hours, along with Māori carving. Afterwards, relax in the renowned mud baths and unwind in the sulphur spas and cool plunge pool.
For health and safety, the mud bath is limited to 20 minutes once a day.
The minimum age for the mud baths is 2.5 years, while the sulphur spa is suitable for those 6 months and older. Children must be at least 12 years old to join the carving activity.
Your swimwear and towels will retain a sulphur scent after your visit and will require thorough cleaning.
It is advisable to use old swimwear, or if preferred, hire or purchase from Hell’s Gate, subject to availability.

Redwoods, Whakarewarewa Forest - TIME PERMITTING ONLY: Known locally as ‘The Redwoods’, the 55,000ha Whakarewarewa Forest is a haven for mountain bikers, walkers, hikers, and horse riders, set amidst magnificent stands of towering Californian Redwoods, lush native forest, and exotic trees.
The Redwood Memorial Grove, planted in 1901, honors the memory of the New Zealand Forest Service men who died in the two World Wars. These iconic trees, reaching approximately 67 meters (219 feet) tall, offer incredible photo opportunities. This easy short walk also includes a boardwalk over an old thermal pond, home to unique aquatic plant life.
