Positioned on a high mountain, it provides breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the meeting point of the dynamic Aragvi and Kura rivers.
The monastery draws thousands of visitors due to its extraordinary architecture, stunning location, and rich historical background. The name “Jvari” means “The Cross” in Georgian, and it holds a special story that will be shared during the visit.
Since 1994, Jvari Monastery has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its global cultural significance.
- Mtskheta - The next destination is Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, a city that serves as a living museum and, like Jvari Monastery, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This city has been continuously inhabited for over 2,500 years and was once the capital of the early Kingdom of Iberia.
Mtskheta boasts numerous ancient historical landmarks, including Bebris Castle, which dates back to the 1st century. One of the most sacred sites here is the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, where, according to tradition, the robe of Jesus was brought from Jerusalem to Georgia in the 1st century and interred.
During the tour in Mtskheta, visitors will walk from the parking area to the historic fortress, navigating narrow streets lined with souvenir shops, wine tasting venues, and Georgian sweets. The tour includes a visit to the burial site of the robe of Jesus at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Afterward, there will be time to explore the area and capture memorable photographs.
