Dharavi - a place of True Excellence, real Quality and Dedication. Visit it. - The tour of a slum does not sit easy with me for reasons that I am sure most sensitive travellers can relate. I could not have been more wrong. Our tour with Janna from CityPulse fulled me with inspiration and possibility. I was overwhelmed with admiration and hope by the tenacity, resilience and determination with which the recycling, refurbishing, sorting, creating and perfecting of leather, plastic, hides, fabrics and pottery by the fantastically skilled and competent workers, creators and gatherers. In this time of monopoly capital, of no competitive opportunities for level-entry entrepreneurs, of the stark monotony of the global market-village, the hard working people of Dharavi slum in Mumbai show us true grit and the power of the informal sector. Janna, our guide, in his unassuming and insightful approach, taught me more in the morning than I learnt in 6 years of tertiary education. Thank you.

Thank you Leena - An experience that is definitely worth having. Leena and her collaborators guided us to get to know an unimaginable reality up close. Highly educational and recommended. Leena is 21, born , raised and lives in the slum. She recently managed to set up her own small tour agency in Mumbai. She embodies what she tattooed on her arm: beyond fears lies freedom. Thank you Leena

An experience I truly recommend to discover the real India - Janna was an outstanding guide. He took us through the Mumbai slum with great care, showing us both the commercial and residential areas. He shared deep and meaningful insights and helped us truly experience this part of the city. Janna is a sensitive, intelligent, and genuinely inspiring person. Eleonora from Italy

A conscious look - It was a truly unique experience, a part of India that you cannot pretend not to see. Life and work merged in one place, made of tunnel, markets and life, so much life, apparently chaotic but actually very organized. Our guide was special and guided us through this experience using the words of the heart. I highly recommend everyone to be accompanied by them because they help to see this reality from the right point of view. I sincerely thank my guide for the time spent together.

A First Class Tour Provider - We had taken the brilliant local tranport tour with Citypulse the previous day and were so impressed with the guide Jana that we booked the Educational Slum Tour and were not disappointed. Jana went above and beyond in ensuring that we safely got to and from the tour and as he lives in the slum, he gave a great insight into life there. We visited numerous areas of the city within a city - a million people live and work there and there are potteries, leather working, recycling plastic and of course cooking for large numbers. It was a thought provoking and fascinating tour that we would certainly recommend. We were happy that we could support a small local business by taking both tours. It's a must for anyone visiting Mumbai.
