Amazing carvings with interesting back stories - The trip to Elephanta Island is definitely worth it. We took the main ferry which is an experience in itself. Ensure you go early as it gets extremely busy as the day goes on. Our guide was fantastic and made sure we were safe and looked after purchasing tickets and discussing items with the stall owners for us.

Fabulous private tour which made us feel safe and well guided. We learned so much- 5 stars - We had the most fantastic Elephanta cave private tour. After speaking with Ali via what’s app ( very easy) we decided to book a speedboat which only took 20 mins instead of an hour each way. He organised a specialist guide who grew up on the island and explained each statue in detail. We even did an ‘Ohmmmm’ exercise in one of the temple chambers. Later we went back to walk a bit the streets and had late lunch in Cafe Ferdinand where we enjoyed real local cuisine (not included in the price of the tour - very well priced 6000 rupees for 3 ppl including drinks). He then showed us the most expensive hotel in Mumbai (The Taj Mahal 5 Star hotel) and we felt we earned a cocktail in there. He organised us a nice table next to the window where we enjoyed a signature cocktail and watched the sun go down and the lights on the ‘Gateway of India’ coming up. What a special day and all the knowledge he shared with us! So the cocktails were of course on us (around 1500/2000 rupees for signature drinks - we enjoyed the Crooner and he a Coco-Mocktail which looked AMAZING). All in all he was brilliant, very knowledgeable, speaks perfect English and nothing is too much to ask. Even some detours we added. Tomorrow he has planned a special treat for us as he will show us a neighbourhood in the ‘slum’ which isn’t a slum to show us where his drive for his business comes from! He always made sure we were left alone by local businesses and found good deals for us and negotiated on our behalf - as two women travelling alone - that made us feel really safe. We found our best guide here! Highly recommended

Place of peace - I had an absolutely fantastic tour of the Elephanta Caves thanks to our guide mr pankaj . Being a local, he had deep knowledge of the caves, their history, and the cultural meaning behind every carving. He was humble, approachable, and so thorough with his explanations — it felt like more than just a tour, it was a learning experience. I enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend mr pankaj to anyone visiting Elephanta!

Amazing - An incredible experience with our guide who is a local. We found ourselves to be the only tourists on the island. It was an extraordinary experience.

Elephanta tour - Amazing guide, explained all the statues and meaning behind them. It was amazing going early in the morning with the speed boat, as we were the first tourists to get there and explored the cave with no one else there
