The Bhaja Caves consist of 22 rock-cut caves from the 2nd century B.C. Visitors can explore the ancient viharas (Buddhist monasteries) and chaitya-grihas (Buddhist assembly or prayer halls), which are considered to showcase the earliest architecture of their kind. Appreciate the intricately decorated facade and the series of unique reliefs illustrating Indian mythology, including tales of the Sun God Surya.
- Karla Caves - At the Karla Caves, ascend the 500 steps with a gentle incline to reach the entrance, where the grand Chaitya awaits. Be amazed by the vast shrines and prayer halls, featuring notable arched entrances and vaulted interiors adorned with carved animals and images of Buddhist monks.
After touring the caves, begin the drive back to Mumbai. There will be a stop for lunch (at your own expense) at a local restaurant.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, guests will be returned to their hotel.
