- Stachus - Meet at 8:45 a.m. at Sonnenstrasse 1, 80331 Munich. Look for the tour bus labeled “Mentor Reisen,” where the friendly driver and guide will greet you upon check-in. - Schloss Linderhof - Arrive at the Linderhof Palace parking lot around 11 a.m. Enjoy exploring the palace gardens independently before heading to the entrance. This smallest, fully furnished palace, built in the 19th century, showcases French Rococo and Baroque styles, influenced by the Palace of Versailles. The English-guided tour starts at 11:10 a.m. and lasts about 30 minutes. The tour bus leaves at 12:00 p.m. (not applicable for the “Neuschwanstein small group relaxed & direct” option!)
- Oberammergau - Between Linderhof Palace and Hohenschwangau village, beneath Neuschwanstein Castle, lies the artistic village of Oberammergau. Renowned for its facade painting (Lüftl-Malerei) and woodcarving, it also hosts the world-famous Passion Plays every 10 years, depicting the last week of Jesus’ life from Palm Sunday to Easter. A coach tour of the town allows for a more comprehensive view than a brief stop. (Not applicable for the “Neuschwanstein small group relaxed & direct” option!)
- Queen Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrucke) - Built in 1845, “Marienbrücke” retains original elements on its railing. The view of Neuschwanstein Castle from here is exceptional, making it a perfect spot for photos!
- Schloss Neuschwanstein - In Hohenschwangau village, the guide will collect (skip-the-line) tickets for Neuschwanstein Castle. Enjoy free time for lunch at local restaurants, a walk to Hohenschwangau Castle, or a stroll by the Alpsee. You can also visit Marienbridge (as described in Nr. 4). Reach Neuschwanstein Castle on foot (a 30-40 minute uphill walk), by shuttle bus, or by horse-drawn carriage for a fee. The guide will provide details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle starts shortly after 4:00 PM, lasting about 25 minutes with an audio guide. Afterward, please return directly to the tour bus. The return trip to Munich departs around 5:30 PM.
- Stachus - After a comfortable coach ride of just under two hours, you’ll arrive back in downtown Munich and disembark at the meeting point.

Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach from Munich to explore the renowned and magnificent castles constructed by the fairytale King Ludwig II. These extraordinary structures, set amidst the Bavarian alpine landscape, are sure to captivate you.
Our tour’s first stop is Schloss Linderhof, the smallest of the Bavarian king’s castles. You have the option to take a live guided tour in English, stroll through the beautifully landscaped grounds, or simply relax with a cup of coffee or tea while admiring the stunning scenery.
Next, we will proceed to Hohenschwangau. During our visit, you will have plenty of time to savor the famous Bavarian cuisine at a restaurant and also explore the Neuschwanstein Castle.
You can choose to tour one or both castles from the inside with a guided tour, and tickets can be purchased in cash from our tour guide.
- To shorten the uphill walking distance, you may alternatively use a horse-drawn carriage or shuttle bus for an additional fee.

If you stand at Karlsplatz (Stachus) with your back to the fountains, you will see the toy shop "Obletter" on your left. If you continue straight ahead along Sonnenstraße, you will see the "Fielmann" eyewear store. There you will meet the guide and the coach with the inscription "Mentor Reisen".

Great Day Trip - This was a great trip. Markus and company made this pleasant and entertaining. He kept the group engaged and on time, allowing us to make a side trip to Oberramergau where we could shop and have gelato. My only criticism was that there need to be more signs in Neuschwenstein to direct you to the castle. We followed others thinking they were headed to the castle but instead were exploring trails.

Gem of a tour - This tour was worth every cent! Tour guide had an awesome sense of humor.With regards to the Neuswanstein Castle itself awesome to walk around wish we had never gone inside. I have looked at many castles and this is not what I expected. If you don't like climbing ex amount of stairs you won't enjoy it. And nothing really inside, the walls painted with pictures. It was a 10 hour tour with lunch built in at your own expense. There are pony carts to take you up I think it was 7Euro to go up and 3 to come down. We took the bus up which takes you to a viewing platform with fantastic views. That cost us 10Euro for two return. A highlight was the fairytale village we stopped at for 30mins. Highly recommend the tour.

Trip to Neuschwanstein - Day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle via the Schloss Linderhof & Oberammergau organised by provider Mentor Reisen and our host Marcus.
Great host, Marcus is full of facts and information delivered in a traditional German humour....aided by his dog Herschen.
Thanks to our driver too, a nice guy.
This was a long day and tiring but well worth it, I have say, so be prepared for lots of useful information, lots of walking and getting back wiped out!
Sloss Linderhof is small, compact, but very much worth seeing. Very interesting place. See pictures.
Great ice cream at Oberammergau, and this is an absolutely stunning place to visit, a must-see. See pictures.
Neuschwanstein, our main destination, was also a must-see. We chose not do the tour inside and feed back after was mixed about it, but we did get to have a great meal there and see everything we wanted to see. More pictures

A great tour! Weather was... - A great tour! Weather was fortunately perfect. Very comfortable bus, plenty of snacks and drinks provided throughout. We had enough time to comfortably see Lindhof and Neuschwanstein, also a surprise stop at Oberammegau for ice cream and souvenir shopping. Special mention to Annette, our guide - highly entertaining and stylish! She mixed in some personal stories with all the history behind the sites. Highly recommend!

A wonderful tour company... - A wonderful tour company and experience! The company had very luxurious busses and provided us with copious snacks at every stop including drinks (soft drinks and beer). The guide was excellent and the sites were breath taking. The day is long but there is time for a snooze on the bus if you get tired between stops!

Great way to spend a day in Bavaria! - We had a phenomenal day ! Our guide Cansel was super fun and very knowledgeable. The ride was smooth, we learned a lot about the history of Bavaria and about the two castles we visited, and also had the opportunity to make a quick stop at the picturesque town Oberammergau. Snacks and drinks were offered throughout the ride. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the tour.... - Really enjoyed the tour. Was a big day but the guide fit everything in perfectly. We took our kids 11 and 13 and 11 years and the tour was great for them too. Highly recommend.

Great tour! - We had a fantastic time with Christine as our tour guide! Her stories were so engaging and we loved learning the history of the castles we went to. We would highly recommend this tour, especially with Christine as the guide :)
