- Neuschwanstein Castles, Schwangau - The renowned Fairytale Castle NEUSCHWANSTEIN is one of Germany’s most iconic landmarks. Its enchanting beauty, inspired by Wagner’s operatic characters, draws visitors worldwide. You can choose to walk to the castle, take a shuttle bus (not available during snow and ice), or a horse-drawn carriage. For more details, see “Additional Info.” The guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle lasts approximately 35 minutes, followed by a 15-minute self-guided walk through additional rooms, with insights provided by your guide.
- Marienbrücke - Queen Mary’s Bridge (“Marienbrücke”) is a top viewpoint, constructed in 1866 by King Ludwig II, and is renowned globally. It is accessible via a shuttle bus (€4.00 per person) from the parking lot or a pleasant 40-minute uphill hike. From the bridge, the castle entrance is a 20-minute downhill walk, passing another stunning viewpoint. PLEASE NOTE: Departures after 8 a.m. may experience waiting times for the shuttle bus and bridge access. However, an alternative spectacular viewpoint is available nearby without waiting. In snowy and icy conditions, the bridge is inaccessible, and Neuschwanstein Castle can only be reached on foot or by horse-drawn hybrid carriage.

At 406 meters (1,332 ft) in length, it is officially the world’s longest pedestrian bridge in the Tibet style. The crossing is entirely safe for children and offers spectacular views! If you choose to cross, you will reach a stunning viewpoint and the baroque Fort Claudia after a 10-minute walk.

Just a short distance by car is: THE BRIDGE - Traversing this impressive steel structure, anchored securely to 8 rocks, is not a task for the timid – GET READY FOR THE ADRENALINE RUSH! Its high safety railings covered by nets render it entirely safe, even for youngsters! And it remains accessible throughout the year.
For those troubled by acrophobia, you can appreciate this architectural marvel from various viewpoints - such as the 700-year old EHRENBERG castle ruin - without ever stepping onto it!
- Are you able to walk slightly uphill from the car park to Neuschwanstein castle (approx. 1,5 km/1mile in an hour’s time)? (If not, the horse carriage or the Shuttle bus (not operating during snow and ice) must be used – anyway, an approx. 450 meters/0.28 miles uphill walk (up to 15 % slope) or an approx. 500 meters/0.31 miles downhill walk (up to 19 % gradient) from the respective terminal to the entrance of the castle have to be managed in any case!) Your guide can assist your group to make sure that you’ll find your way. - In Neuschwanstein castle there are 346 stairs alltogether (up and down) to be managed. If this is too much for you and if you have an appropriate medical certificate of disability or resstriction of mobility or similar (must be scanned and posted in advance), an exclusive lift service only for you with a maximum of one companion, accompanied by a castle-staff could be booked. The elevator service is without additional costs, but the number of tours with that service is very limited and must be reconfirmed by the castle authorities. PLEASE NOTE: If you may need the lift service please inform us IMMEDIATELY after your booking! - To Hohenschwangau castle there is a carriage service (not in winter season) almost from door-to-door. You have to climb stairs up to the 3rd floor and back (no elevator).
